NO. That is all can say. NO. ibuki has a fine wakeup. Is it a 3f DP? no but it’s better than a huge amount of the cast.
I swear if the character doesn’t have a 3F FADCable DP they suddenly have “terrible wakeup options” according to everyone. Ibuki’s LK and EX Kazegiri is invincible until active, FADCable, and only 5F, plus if used as a reversal in a non-knockdown situation it will deal with neutral jumps. Also while her backdash is relatively slow it has a long distance meaning she can do FA - Backdash as a wakeup option.Her wakeup is FAR better than Cody’s.
Cody however has all sorts of issues with his wakeup. FIrst off his wakeup options are FA Backdash (super short range loses to a simple on reaction sweep or an OS) or EX Zonk which has16F startup, a bit more difficult to time as a reversal since it doesn’t read negative edge input and can’t be double tapped since the move only comes out upon release of 2 punch buttons charged for 30F. Also it has a tendency to under some attacks during the start up which leaves cody completely open since he can’t even FADC to make it safe. And EX Criminal Upper which is a fairly decent 7F startup and is viable against grapplers, but it loses strike and projectile invincibility a few frames before becoming active meaning it is stuffable. Plus both of those options require meter both to execute and to make it safe, while Ibuki’s kazegiri LK is invincible till active (it’s not quite as good as EX but it’s better than many characters.)
Heck I’d say Ibuki’s wakeup options are better than over half of the cast. Certainly better than Makoto, Cody, Guy, Dudley, Claw, Chun Li, Gouken, Rose, Gen, El Fuerte, Honda, T-Hawk, Zangief, Viper, Abel, or Sakura’s options.

Speaking of 3F DPs. That is one thing I hate, not so much just the character but the player who manages to get to around 1500-2000PP by playing a Shoto and simply running “DP at every opportunity on defense” and “Tatsu - DP or throw mixup if as their entire offense” when I see that I get mad because it feels like they got those points on the virtues of their character having good low level options rather than actually being a good player. That is one of the reasons I tended to steer clear of characters with strong reversal options when I started SF4 (Shotos/Fei/Seth/anyone with an invincible till active FADCable sub-5F reversal that doesn’t even cost meter.) because I felt that I’d lean on that option too hard and not learn the fundamentals of defense which is a problem that seems to plague the low level shoto army

Also I hate those people that think that they are so good that if they beat you one time online (even just barely) they feel the need to switch to their 300BP alt when you go in for a runback. I can’t help but think that secretly those people are scared that now you’ve had one match to see their gimmicky playstyle you’ll be able to adjust and win.
welp, time for my weekly rant on this thread.
today, i was gonna post hate for seth…but i came to the conclusion that what i hated about seth most of all wasn’t his command grab, or ex dp, or combo links into infinity and beyond…but his dive kick.
so this week my gripe are all characters that have a dive kick as their normal.
thats yun, rufus, yang and seth. i hate these dive kicking fools. but mostly seth coz its freakishly hard to punish this kick if your character doesn’t have a get off me move like a dp.
i hate hate hate dive kicks that aren’t special moves. hate them.
i have no problem with characters with special move dive kicks like cammy, juri, and adon…but to make a dive kick into a normal. and they seem hard to punish. either you’ll get hit or trade. but you can’t really anti-air them consitently with a normal.
Don’t get me started on Blanka! I have all the XBL scrub Blanka’s pegged, so now whenever I see one of them I play Makoto to kinda “counter pick” them. “Oshit, he just punishe by Blanka ball with lunge punch! Let’s do another one anyway, maybe he’ll forget!”
-Lame character design
-His voice annoys me (either one)
-Fucking headbutt beating everything and being completely safe
-Ass slam shenanigans
-Hits way too hard in general
-Impossible to break through a good defensive Honda
