Hey, I am pretty new here and completely new to the fighting genre. I picked up SFXT in the steam sale a few days ago and its really really fun to play. The online is a bit naff (net code problems Google tells me) which is a shame because it would be nice to play it a bit more competitively, but it just feels like a dead game which makes me kind of sad.
**1. What is the most active fighting game that is worth putting time into to play a bit more competitively and to get good at? (I enjoy SFXT and only ever played tekken 6 and a few street fighters on the sega)
Is PC a no go for playing fighting games, most tell me ps3 is the way forward but I myself only have an xbox 360 and PC, is there really a massive divide?
Am I in the right place? Haha this one sounds a bit silly but I am not sure I am on the correct website, I am unsure of websites and resources when it comes to fighting games?
is SFXT fixable for the PC or is it worth just ditching it?
Is there anything else a complete newbie should no?**
Thanks, for anyone who can help me out and sorry in advance if this is in the wrong place =]
Overall, the most active games would be SF4 and UMVC3. It really depends on your local area though. I would recommend looking into the regiona matchmaking section of this forum, meeting up with locals in your area who are into fighting games, and seeing what kind of games they’re playing. The heart of the competitive scene is offline, so I would recommend visiting your local community. It’s a great way to meet new people AND improve your own skill set in a short amount of time. People tend to be really helpful if you’re nice and ask for help.
SFxT netcode on PC is pretty ass. It’s barely playable online as well. If your goal is to play in tournaments, most tourneys use xbox360s, with a few using ps3. Online functionality for xbox360 is generally superior for a variety of games, and regular tournament players usually play on xbox360 instead of ps3 or PC.
Yeah, you’re on the right website. This is the best forum to go to find good information on a variety of fighting games. A few other forums specialize in say Smash Brothers, air dasher games, and 3d fighting games, but for all Capcom games, this is the site to go to.
The netcode is pretty bad, but as long as you can deal with it, you’ll still get good practice, especially at low-levels of play.
Study up all the stickied threads in this newbie section, as well as the section for whatever game you’re interested in. There’s a lot of good information in the stickied threads, most of which will answer 99% of your basic questions that you’ll have.
Hope you find what you’re looking for here, and good luck.
thanks for taking time to answer all of these for me, I had a look around and I can’t seem to find regional matchmaking section, can you link me too it please? and so pretty much SF4 on xbox is the way forward?
