When is the next STREET FIGHTER or CAPCOM related comic coming out?

Nice, thanks Sano. I hope it’s fun. Feels like ages since I’ve seen an Udon SF book. The last one I read was the Necro & Effie issue, really fun!

Man, that feels like a long time away. But I’m glad we’re finally getting an official date.

(I’m really hoping there’ll be an online version. I’m still a little hesitant to go out and about in public.)

Looked over SDCC’s AKA Comic Con International’s online schedule and Udon will have a panel. That will be next Saturday at 11 AM. I’m assuming that’s pacific time so adjust accordingly. This link should be good for that panel once it starts but if not it will be on YouTube anyway so search and you will find. https://youtu.be/9I6HwWsX1ZM

@Sano The Ryu vs Chun-Li comic is supposed to be released a week from today, correct?

@Chun-Li_Forever YES! It even shows up on my LCS’ list of books next for the first time ever since they NEVER get the SF FCBD issue. I miss it every year, have to wait until the story gets reprinted in a TPB to read it. But not this year!

THIS HUGE AND ANNORYING RYU AND CHUN-LI FANBOY NAMED SANO WILL GET TO READ IT ON DAY ONE HOORAY! It only took A WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC to make that happen so IT AIN’T HORD! :stuck_out_tongue:

I still wish Chun-Li was wearing her Street Fighter II outfit though like COME ON! Ah well. At least I’m not paying for it lol!

EDIT: The Street Fighter Swimsuit 2020 Special #1 issue also hits comic book stores next week! That one is not free and will cost you $4.99. Three different covers. There’s a Poison cover, a Juri and Cammy cover and a blank cover. I’m going for the Poison cover! The last thing Udon’s comic needs is more Cammy haw haw!

I’m excited too, though my local comic store hasn’t said anything about having it in stock for next week.

Still wishing there would be an online version of it for those still iffy about going out. But if not, I’ll hop in and out as fast as I can to get it.

Can’t wait for the story. Best case scenario: I’m hoping for it to be a prequel for a Chun-Li and Ryu future comic series.

I would buy every cover of a Ryu and Chun-Li series! Even the Cammy covers because I know she will still get them LMAO! I wish that would happen.

Wow this looks bad ooooh… But news is news I guess. Here this will exist. Chances are I will never speak of it again lol! Mega Man comic based on the Fully Charged series. Even I’m not buying this one ha ha! https://www.rockman-corner.com/2020/08/preview-pages-for-boom-studios-mega-man.html?m=1

Nope still no FCBD issue by me despite being on the list of new books. Same story every year. At least I got the swimsuit issue. Sigh…

Dang, I’m always unsure of how to go about FCBD books in the digital age, some companies have what I’m looking for and some never make it to Comixology as far as I know.

Threw in the towel and got it online via ‘the internets.’ Not for free of course. With shipping and all that it’s 8 bucks so not terrible I guess. Normally I wouldn’t do this but it’s Ryu and Chun-Li gotta have that lol! I usually wait for a TPB but lol Udon’s gotta have new material to make a TPB unless they want to stick it in a TPB full of stories I already read and charge me way more than 8 bucks. Ah well, let’s see if the book arrives or if I don’t just get a picture of the cover.

Do you happen to know if the story is canon, or is it a side story? Cause from the preview everyone looks like they’re partying in a cast party style, but I saw Sagat there and wondered why he’d be there lol

It’s Udon. The Udon lore of SF isn’t the same as the SF lore. They put a couple creative (sometimes questionable) takes on some of the important canon for characters: like brain-washed Cammy being the one who murdered Chun’s father. But they occasionally put something in that could be believeable.

For instance, in the first two pages of the comic, we see Chun (in her SFV School outfit) teaching Kung Fu to orphans, Li-Fen included, even though she isn’t mentioned by name (she does call her Auntie though, so… weird). It turns out, she named the orphanage after her father, something that is totally plausible in the SF universe.

My comic store hasn’t contacted me about if their store is carrying a copy of Udon’s Street Fighter 100. But my friend did send me pics over his phone. From what I gather, the entire cast party is to celebrate Ken and Eliza’s 10th anniversary. They turned Gouken’s old dojo into one giant dance party… not sure how he’d feel about it. But one of fighters is an impostor, and though Ryu senses the threat, he and Chun-Li fight a little before working together to epicly finish them off.
Mostly to serve as a celebration to 100. But there is a brief hint of the next SF arc to be about the 2nd coming of Gill. Would love to see more Chun/Ryu partnerships tthough

I don’t know for certain. But Matt Moylan at Comic Con International said that Ryu and Chun-Li only met briefly before so this will be their first extended interaction. Plus Udon is doing some Marvel comics style math lol to make it the 100th issue. I’m going to assume the story will be canon to Udon’s comics. Not that I can say for sure without reading it.

Regarding Marvel lol I still have no idea how they are counting 100 issues for Spider-Woman. MC2 Spider-Girl is the only legit Marvel female to hit 100 issues. The mini series they counted to give Venom 100 issues were extremely WTF… Not that I know if Udon’s numbering is off but hopefully the book contains a checklist that shows their math like Marvel does. I’m willing to bet they are counting Street Fighter Legends books and lol maybe even the Rival Schools books since Street Fighter V’s recent announcement of Akira joining the game says they can. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks, I should have specified if “it is canon to the Udon books”, I know it’s not tied to the games. I was wondering if it takes place after the DS crossover stories , or the Necro and Effie issue or is a random fun issue.

(Also as always, I gotta ask if Q gets any love in this issue, lol)

Yeah, they shook hands once in the SFII Udon comic. But that’s it. Would love to see them paired up as the main characters in a future SF story arc. They are SF’s poster characters after all.

It does seem it’s connected to the other Udon comics. And I read through it twice and didn’t see any Q.

The issue arrived in the mail and I just read it. Overall I enjoyed it! Maybe I’m biased but I liked Ryu and Chun-Li’s interaction waaaaaay more than all of Ryu and Sakura’s scenes in the entire series. It’s mind boggling that it took this long for these two to share this much screen time IMHO.

Yeah, you’d think that Street Fighter’s own poster girl and boy would share at least one adventure or fight. Then again, both fight for different reason. Ryu is fighting to become stronger and to suppress his dark power, while Chun-Li fights for justice and to avenge her father’s death.

Ok I just read the Ryu Vs. Chun-Li comic and I really enjoyed it. I liked how the artist emulated modern Bengus style. I must say I am not particularly a fan of modern Bengus, but it works phenomenally in comic book form.

Thumbs up from me!

Turns out you can buy the issue from Udon. A variant copy. The downside is it’s 20 dollars and Cammy is on the cover. LMAO Udon loves Cammy I swear lol!
