Udon drops Wonder Momo Battle Idol vol. 1 next week by Zub and Omar Dogan, a collection of their Shifty Look scripts.
Wonder Momo got beat up by Juni and Juli during Namco x Capcom and that’s all you need to know lol! In that game she was teamed up with Bravoman and a collection of those Shifty Look strips is out too.
Fell just below my radar, but the SF4 Wages of Sin hardcover hit comic book stores today. It reprints all of the SF4 Udon comics, but it does have a new short Ultra SF4 story of Juri vs. Decapre which was pretty cool.
So I picked up the hardcover exclusive SDCC books at the Udon table today.
Really impressed with how much better they are when compared to the original paperback ultimate editions. My old volume 1 paperback had the cover fall off after 4 days due to the glue being so terrible. It’s nice to have full blown good quality bindings now.
However, I forgot to ask them if the Legends collection is going to be reprinted in the new hardcover format anytime soon. I’m hoping to ask that question during the panel on Saturday, but if anyone else is at SDCC this year and swings by the table please ask.
Super Street Fighter volume 2 is almost finished and should be releasing soon.
The World Warrior encyclopedia is being reprinted in the new hardcover format and will be updated to include Ultra and other new artwork. (this is a big deal because the original version is long out of print.)
No word yet on if the Legends collection is getting reprinted in the hardcover format.
Thanks! Here’s some more on that Robotech project Udon mentioned in that link.
Kind of funny since Capcom of Japan wanted to use Mospeada, the ‘New Generation’ arc of Robotech for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Tatsunoko said no, mostly because IIRC they don’t own the rights for it entirely.
Would’ve been cool since Robotech, especially the New Generation arc was my real introduction into anime. Don’t know who they would’ve used, but probably Yellow Belmont AKA Lancer since he was the most popular character in Japan. But who knows. My favorites were Ray/Rand and Bouquet/Rook personally.
I did wind up picking up SF 25 but since it was in the middle of my move to Staten Island it’s still packed away in a box somewhere lol! Haven’t finished looking through it. Love the designs they have for the various SF anime. I wish those images were bigger though.
Hey Staten Island’s pretty much what Capcom considers to be Metro City. No palm trees lol but we do have a lot of trees. I’ll keep an eye out for Mad Gear ha ha!
Oh and Dark Horse is dropping a Hatsune Miku manga in English next week! Just mentioning that because there’s a Monster Hunter game in Japan where you can dress your character up as Hatsune Miku. I guess she’s kinda sorta down with Capcom lol! Oh well her game on PS3 is fun if you give it a shot IMHO.
Hey for what it’s worth there are a few subtle Capcom nods in the Unofficial Hatsune Mix manga that Dark Horse dropped this week! Slight spoilers.
Hatsune Miku stuff because Sano, Ingrid’s only US fan is a closet lolicon lol
Spoiler
The character Kagamine Len is described as a gamer who cosplays as characters from video games. So one character shown looks like someone from Monster Hunter - possibly, random armored knight with a big sword - Dante of Devil May Cry fame - most likely, he has a long coat, is wearing a black glove and is shooting a handgun - and Arthur of Ghouls ‘n Ghosts fame! Arthur is undeniable since Len is wearing no clothes except his boxers and has Arthur’s big spear lol! Noice!
Oops just noticed that Udon is releasing two Capcom art books this week. Breath of Fire Official Complete Works and Resident Evil 6 Official Complete Works!
If it was me I’d get the Akuma book first because I reeeeally didn’t enjoy Chun-Li’s SF Legends story. I think it’s the worst story in the entire SF comic book canon. The other stories are great but that one really brings the book down. Storyline-wise anyway. Udon’s art is always on point.
If you haven’t read them I doubt either will pay any big part in the next SF graphic novel. Go with whatever characters you like best.
^ - I’ll probably go with Gouki’s story. After Assassin’s Fist, it’s hard for me to disagree with choosing that over Legends. Hopefully, UDON brings Akuma’s “learn a new technique before the tournament starts” attitude along with it.
Well met with the choice , Sano! It was a great read. Not many unanswered questions, but enough tie-in to assist with the plot that Capcom slowly reveals each game. It’s good to see Gouki get a spotlight. I even felt a tingle after seeing a certain someone get an appearance. Hopefully, they continue that one’s story. Sure - we see alot of him, but there’s enough ground work to elaborate.
