Alvin’s style was awesome. I’m not feeling Chamba at all. At first it was like oh alright, I saw some of his stuff and it was ok. Now seeing his art issue after issue - feels like empty backgrounds, half-finished looking moves that never feel complete, and some of the expressions were wtf looking. Bring Alvin lee back!
Kinda late mentioning this but Udon colored Joe Mad’s Wizard Cover based on the new Darksiders game. Pretty cool! 
God, I’m too much of a Capcom fan. EVERYTIME I hear someone mention Darksiders, I keep thinking that they’re talking about DarkSTALKERS.
And me too, can’t stand Chamba. His version of Honda looks like a brick with arms and feet attached to it.
Chamba is amazing at composing a scene, and uses from awesome looking angles to shoot the action from. While I preferred Alvin, I’ve grown to like Chamba. Still, I know exactly what you mean by 'WTF" expressions, mostly women seem to display them though.
I don’t like Chamba’s faces and i hate the lack of inking, but i would ignore those if he at least tried to draw some backgrounds. There was one issue where there were TWO pencilled backgrounds. TOTAL, out of 20 pages (it was the issue where Ken is on the bridge, IIRC - may be the one before or after)! That must be the world record for a pro comic.The Final Fight issue was mind-boggling, too.
No Chamba issue had the 1 to 3 backgrounds per page you see in Marvel, Image and DC comics. Even Rob Liefeld draws more backgrounds than Chamba.
It’s a shame too, because Chamba’s action scenes are amazing.
Recently saw a new Chamba drawing of a Bison head shot that looked pretty good. That might be the only good thing I’ll say about his work.
Got the SF Tribute book about a week ago. AAAWWWWEEEESOOOOOMMMMEEE!
Jumping on the criticising train, something I noticed about the fights in II Turbo is that the fight scenes are barely sequential. There are many action pages where one could randomly rearrange the panels and it wouldn’t be noticed because there’s no logic connection between them.
Finally got around to checking out the first SF4 TPB. Wasn’t aware that it also included the SF4 Target Exclusive comic, the story with Gouken. Pretty cool.

Seems that the SFIII is going to be out near the end of the year which is BS. How much longer are they gonna keep pushing it back!

I’m really enjoying Chamba’s work. I’ll agree that in the beginning he was having trouble getting the Street Fighter’s faces down, especially the females. In later issues though he’s become one of my favorite Udon artists. His fight scenes run so fluid and he takes on dramatic angles that I’m sure most comic artists wouldn’t touch if they could help it.
In the beginning I loved Alvin Lee’s work but towards the end of his run (book 3 in the tpbs) it kinda felt like his style got too routine. All the male characters looked like Ryu and all the females looked like Chun li. The fight scenes felt really stiff too, I couldn’t really detect fluid motion in the action. I will admit that I’m spoiled a bit by the Ryu Final and Alpha mangas, I’ve owned them for years before UDON published the translations and loved the fight scenes.
