You’re serious? Out of the 3 dolls in SFA3, Juni is the best out of them. Her Cannon Spike is like as the others, but her Air Spiral Arrow is probably the best and safest. Do it immediately so that it executes just as soon as Juni leaves the ground, it will look almost as if you did the grounded Spiral Arrow. Juni just bounces off and recovers immediately if it gets blocked, allowing you to do it whenever it’s convenient for you.
Mach Slide is completely invincible. That includes sweeps and everything else. Juni has vulnerable moments at the start and end, but there’s no way you can hit her while she’s in the middle of it. I used Juni a lot, so I would know. It’s one of Juni’s anti-projectile moves, and you can go straight into an Earth Direct or a VC. Earth Direct has the same problem as E.Honda’s grab, but it’s still good for tick throws and Mach Slide feints.
She does suck. Out of the 3 dolls, she has the worst VC. Her best version is X/A-ism. Unless it’s one of those characters that are good in those, anyone that sucks in V-ism are lower in SFA3 tiering. Another reason that Juni is better than the other two dolls is that she has the most damaging VC (around 80%), making her a significant threat.
As I said above, the grounded Spiral Arrow is not as good as the Air Spiral Arrow outside of combos. The Air Spiral Arrow doesn’t require the spacing that the Cannon Strike needs to be safe, which makes it harder to see coming. It’s one the things that puts Juni above the other two.
Except that Juli isn’t better, she’s worse.
She also has the Dive Kick. It’s great for cross ups and for pressuring since it has no recovery if you manage to hit the very tip of the oppenents foot. Easier to do while someone’s getting up.
That would be awesome. Now it makes we want to see how Psycho Rolling would look like when used.
Juni is easily the best of the Dolls in Alpha/Zero3. Juni’s extensive moveset gives her the most options both defensively and offensively of the Doll characters. You must play Juni a bit differently due to her being a charge character, but overall Juni can do everything Cammy can do (VC included) plus more in SFZ3. However, Juni’s low damage potential, low stamina and bad match ups kept her out of competitive play.
Air Spiral Arrows have a “bounce back” property that make them very safe. Very useful when done just off the ground. Regular Spiral Arrows are mostly for miss move punishment and combos. Psycho Shield gives her a “pushblock” (can be used with air guard) which was useful for avoiding some guard crush VCs. Cannon Spike as anti-air and Mach Slide for evasion and rush down offense. One of the branches of Juni’s Hooligan Combo does huge damage. The command grab Earth Direct doesn’t have great range but is still useful in the counter hit and throw aspects of the basic ground game. Juni’s supers are poor but in a game dominated by VCs supers matter little.
Cammy, especially compared to her CvS2 version was not great in SFZ3. Her normals were not bad but no where as buff as they are in CvS2. Spiral Arrow did not hit low and for the most part did not go under projectiles. Cannon Spike remained a strong anti-air but the rest of her moves had very specific uses and where often ignored.
Juli is basically a watered down version of Cammy and since Cammy was relatively weak in Z3, Juli is even weaker. BTW slose s.HP xx Sniping Arrow combos.
Dramatic Mode Juli and Juni are still a blast to play though.
Looking across -isms here are the move of the Dolls.
Actually, Juni is the one with the hooligan combination. And her’s is bugged so that her cross scissors throw or whatever the heck it’s called does double damage, which is insane. Juli instead has the… spinning turning punch. Um… ew.
I like Juli though. But for playability, she just simply took a back seat as I got more and more experienced with using Juni. Alas, in the comic book, getting back on topic as well as being redundant, there really isn’t much that makes Juli stand out above the other Dolls besides the fact that she was a playable character and even then, unlike Juni, she never really had her own solo-style besides the sniping arrow kick.
Well, at least all the Dolls in general got more showtime than most playable characters so eh. And Juli and Juni had duo attacks, which is something no one else had, so I still hope for the chance to see Death Cross Dancing or Psycho Rolling in the comic.
Juli makes a better ‘main’ character or co-main character than Juni. The latter’s too cute and young looking in comparison to the rest of the Dolls, while Juli’s serious expression and ‘nonextremeness’ so to speak make her a better character for being someone that things revolve around (most main characters in general aren’t too extreme. Ryu and Guile, for example, are well-balanced, and Jotaro focuses on just punching his foes instead of the crazy stuff everyone else does in JJBA. As does Luffy, albeit with stretchier arms. And Naruto, times 1000 with his kage no jutsu but still generally sheer power instead of gimmicks). So if I had to write a serious story about the Dolls and had to choose one of the twelve to be the one where things revolve the most around, it’d be Juli (…actually, speaking from experience, that was the case).
This would of course assume that Cammy wasn’t in the story completely, but alas for Juli, Cammy’s there. Still, it was enough for Juli to earn the rights to being the one of the two playable Dolls to have the actually more likely remotely canon ending, as opposed to Juni who got the one where they both die instead. :wow: Oh, and to be chosen for Noembelu’s replacement instead of Juni (heh, now that would have looked even MORE ridiculous).
Not bugged. There’s some differences between her Hooligan Combination and Cammy’s. Juni’s starts up slower and arcs higher than Cammy’s, making it easier for her to be countered. I assume the higher damage is to compensate for that.
What’s a gashapon? I assume it’s one of those figures that’s uncolored and you do the coloring yourself.
No, gashapon are the small figures you get in clear plastic balls in Japanese vending machines. A bunch of small prepainted pieces you put together for a figure around 10 cm tall. A cheap and good way to get lots of different characters on your shelves. Obviously, most of them are girls (there are like a million different sets with Capcom girls, for example). There are also resin kits (or garage kits) that you glue together and paint, but they obviously require talent. Also, unlike the gashapon they’re produced in VERY limited numbers and usually cost $100 or more. That’s for the unpainted, unbuilt figure. But you can get pretty much every character as a garage kit, I’ve seen obscure ones like June Lin Milliam, various Samurai Shodown:Warrior’s Rage 2 characters, Juni&Juli, Dee Jay, Gen, etc. If you want to pay that much.
Oh, and there’s a bunch of nude DoA garage kits. If you want that stuff.
The opportunity presented itself, so I ordered a couple of sets of the Capcom girls including Juli. Now I’ll have five spare Juli’s for kitbashing. I also have a bid on the swimsuit set, so Juni’s head will be easy to get. And that Cammy might be modded to Decapre.
