I believe Arturo/Sabin got some of these terms on live stream when East Coast started to do streams and it pretty much got thrown into the main stream.

Other words that need to stop: fray, “stay free,” scrape.
“Salty” is a word people have been using for a hundred years to describe things other than ones that actually taste like salt. It was not invented 2 years ago. However, much like actual salt, it should be used in moderation.
Actually, free is just as old. Even in 1992 SF2 days, after beating scrubs people would say “that was free” and the like. It’s just that nowadays instead of using it in moderation people throw these terms out every chance they get. Some of the meaning isn’t centered around money matches. When people would have a first to five and not lose once, they didn’t have to spend additional quarters, hence it being “free.” I miss when games were just a quarter each.

Oh, I’m aware. I remember reading about how X beats Y for free when people were talking about matchups, strategies etc.
But shouting FRAAAAYYYY like a retarded person isn’t really the same thing. And “free” in general has been subject to overuse.
WC sprinkles jargon left and right with any free wins. But in actuality the dual nature of SALT is the various compounds jittered free by a certain left-handed technique down to the far end of my testicles.

Why the fuck are you guys mad about the terms? Everything that is competitive has it random terms. For example I play basketball, and we say shit like “wet” buttahz" etc…

“Epic” as in what? Epic games? I’m fine with that, since it really doesn’t get abused that much. I mean, you’re probably likely to hear it every now and then with something like “Did you see that game? It was epic.” I swear to god though, whenever you watch some sort of SSFIV stream or go to a SSFIV tournament, you hear “Oh man dat nigga is salty as fuck”, “He’s feeling pretty salty right now”, “Probably feeling salty that he lost”, etc.
