When and how will the missing characters show up?

The Street Fighter 2 tournament is going to be starting soon which will mean that several characters won’t be appearing anytime after. While Karin and R. Mika have appeared in back up stories and Sakura Legends, I’d still like for them to appear in the main story. Does anyone know if Udon plans to incoporate these characters soon? Also, how would you like to see them appear?

Karin - I’d like for Karin to have a rematch with Sakura in the Street Fighter tournament. Karin should win by having a tough time beating Sakura.

R. Mika - She should have some relation to Zangief in the SF tournament.

The Final Fight Cast (Guy, Sodom, Rolento, Cody, Maki) - If they decide to do an Issue based off the Final Fight episode of Street Fighter, that will be decent for me. They’ll just need to accomodate Maki.

Ingrid - Hmmm. I want her to appear with some part to play in the story. Maybe she should show up near the end of the big battle in the next issue to help the others? Or while we are shown other characters preparing for the tournament, at the end of the issue, we see Ingrid flying through time saying “I have to make it in time!” just like her SFA3 Max Upper story with her finally appearing to help the other Street Fighter take down Bison and the Shadaloo organisation.

Eagle - He was hired to beat Sagat, so I guess some relation to Sagat’s story?

Mike - I’m not sure if Mike is his own individual in the US as he more than likely became Balrog. If not, they could include him in a back up story featuring Balrog. This back up story has Balrog in jail and before he gets freed by Shadaloo agents, he has a flashback dream. This shows us Balrog as a young teen being inspired by Mike in a boxing match, hence why Balrog grows up to be the boxer we know.

Lee - Well unfortunately, like Geki, he wouldn’t be able to appear in the main story unless it’s a flashback.

Geki - Ibuki wouldn’t appear anytime soon even if Udon wanted to use Geki as Ibuki’s father. Geki had his time. It’s just unfortunate that he didn’t get to speak in his brief comic time.

Joe - Not sure, just as long as he appears and speaks, that’s enough

When I look at your list, I don’t see many core characters left. I realise what a great job Udon has done a great job at touching base with most of the cast. :tup:

Udon have said that the Final Fight cast are a different license altogether (hence why they haven’t popped up yet I guess) and have hinted releasing a Final Fight mini series in the future.

Tying Ingrid’s very vague and loose time traveling antics into the main story is a recipe for disaster I reckon. I reckon Ingrid was was just another character floating around that they could easily add to SA3 Double Upper. And her story was simply an afterthought.

As for the Street Fighter one cast. I’d like to see them in a Sagat Legends series maybe. Showing he lost his eye met Bison etc…

I also all the fighters in the upcoming SF2 Tourney arch are the Super Turbo cast. More fights with Gief, Blanka, Dhalsim, Honda, Balrog, Vega, DeeJay. Really looking foward to a massive Slugfest!!!

Someone said that they won’t show up because Final Fight is a different license. If that’s so, why did they all show up on SF (not SF2) #1? I think they meant that the Final Fight story and characters that haven’t shown up in SF as playable chars like Haggar are off-limits. You can still have Guy, Cody, Maki, et al be jobbers.

Keep Ingrid away from SF. She was just plunked into SFA3MAX so that Sony can have an exclusive character in SFA3 for PSP.

As for SF1 charas:

Mike & Joe: No one cares about them. They’ve been replaced by Balrog & Cody in the SF universe essentially. (No, they’re not the same people…) Putting Mike in would be confusing.

Geki’s dead. Lee had Gen assassinate him in a backup story.

Retsu showed up in a flashback where Ryu went Satsui no Hado and whooped his ass.

What I want to know is whatever became of the two playable characters and the two bosses?

I think their names were Ryu, Ken, Adon & Sagat.

Haven’t heard much from them…

The main reason for no Final Fight characters aside from the license ordeal is that the Final Fight characters have their own story in the SFZ(A) games that really doesn’t have too much to do with SF for the most part except for small things. Studio Udon’s stated that a bunch of times. Things like Guy wanting to take down Gouki or Vega(Cape) are stories they can tell with just about any other character(Ryu, Ken, Guile, Chun-Li, Cammy, etc). That’s why they want to do a seperate FF comic at some point. Not saying they will, but Udoneko has expressed desire in making an FF comic in the past at least.

As for the FF characters showing up on the cover of issue 1 and other covers, Rey’s Cheap Shots and stuff - They can use the characters for artwork no problem. They can also use the characters within SF’s story, that’s within their rights as well. They just don’t want to use them in SF’s story for reasons stated above. They want to do a seperate Final Fight story, and for that they need the Final Fight license.

Re: Ingrid - Jerry of Sota toys confirmed that she is a Street Fighter character now because of her inclusion in PSP SFZ3, they were allowed to make an action figure. Not that they were going too of course.

As far as her being in the comic goes - I really like the character but it seems kind of late for them to cram here in there especially since they are seemingly moving past the Zero/Alpha arc after Sakura Legends and the current arc of the main book. I would like to see her in a comic by Studio Udon, but if it never happens I won’t loose sleep over it. It’s not like I expect them to start cramming in Cammy’s new “Psycho Limiter” she got in the SFZ Anthology just now. :rofl: Ohs well at least I got Omar Dogan to draw me this cool sketch of Ingrid at the 2006 NY Comic Con. :smile:

Featuring all the SF1 characters.
The fight between Sagat and Dan’s father.
The fight between Sagat and Eagle.
Mike becoming Mike Bison(Balrog).
Joe - being Dan’s dad - or doing nothing.
What does Udon thinks about that?
Without it the pre SFII theme is not complete!

Final Fight Cast - We can’t really touch Final Fight until we get the license. However, we CAN include them into the story somehow; we just can’t label it as Final Fight. When and where these characters will play a role, we’ll have to wait and see. Its up to Ken (the writer), and I totally trust his writing talent.

Ingrid - Also totally up to Ken. I remember talking to him about Ingrid. She’s interesting. No concrete plans yet.

Eagle, Mike, Joe - Ken again. Lets wait and see.

Lee - He was mentioned in, “Hong Kong Showdown” (SF Issue #10)

Geki - Gen killed him in the backup story, “Gen’s Shame” (SF Issue #10)

Mike and Balrog are two different people.

Joe is definately NOT Dan’s father. That’s Go Hibiki.

Pre SFII theme? That’s why we started with the Street Fighter series. :slight_smile:

Oh, so that’s why the Final Fight characters haven’t shown up.

You see, for some time, I wondered why they appeared on 3 Street Fighter covers (Issues 1A, 7A and 11A) yet they didn’t appear.

For me personally, I’d like all the characters in the SF saga to appear in the comic with a speaking part at least for one issue. That’s why even though I’m sure Karin and R. Mika will be featured in Sakura Legends, I’d like them to appear in at least one issue of the main story.

The SF1 cast if they merely appeared in flashbacks of the main story will be enough for me. And Ingrid, well I guess if she appears on a future cover, I can be probably speculate that she can be in.

But for now, I’ll be satisfied if every character from the Issue 1A cover appears with a speaking part.

Interesting question re: Final Fight: Can you use the fact that Ryu and Ken know Guy (and quite possibly at least know of Maki, Cody, etc.), which would, in a roundabout way, be referring to the FF story?

Then again, Ryu & Ken knew Guy before he moved to Metro City and, presumably, have lost touch with him. (Hell, Ryu & Ken hadn’t exactly been in close contact with each other from SF1 to Gouki killing Gouken…)
