i hold them in alot higher regard than people that start threads about them
in non marvel games, i have yet fought against any players that can actually throw a fireball correctly, let alone beat me with fireball spam. most of the time, i can just jump in their obviously predictable fireball and take out at least 1/3 of their health in one combo.
however, dp mashing faggots are another story. they are free, but the fact that you have respect the dp and they can let it rip out of the most random times pisses me off to no end.
If you are zoning properly you have a contingency plan for when the other guy inevitably gets in (what’s that, you got past my arrows? FUCK YOU BITCH I GOT SHIELD SKILLS).
Spammers will keep shooting fire balls long after it stops being a viable strategy.
Indeed, i agree with you, but i’ve said it because of some people who don’t understand the term, i remember some time ago when Daigo had a Match against Justin Wong (Ryu vs Balrog) and some annoying fanboys were saying “lol WTF stop with the spam dude” “lol he can only spam fireballs durr durr” and you can see this everyday :shake:
walk up shoryu.
use it wisely.
people who “spam DPs and fireballs” are obviously “good” players
a. good players
b. average players playing solid
c. free
I actually like them because it’s usually a good chance to practice FA’s, new combos I’ve been working on, or fundamentals. In SF4 though, random Shoto playing can be dangerous though.
Buuuuut, if I’m in the mood to just mash on shoto scrubs and get some free BP, I’ll play em for a few matches if they don’t RQ.
Depends on the game.

that anyone that calls the effective use of the tools of their char like FB and DPs spam, its pretty much a scrub that doesnt know how to play fighting games at all, and that he/she should be reevaluating their gameplay and mindset before trying to judge his/her oponents
now if you are refering to people who throw them mindlessly and without any type of strategy in mind, then that they are free wins for me
“I can punch through your dear fireballs, ya chump!” -Balrog
If they’re spamming fireballs and dragon punches, and it’s working ,it’s called an effective strategy.
If you don’t know how to get around it, then you’re a scrub, who needs to work on how to counter the classic fireball/dragon punch pattern. This ain’t 1992 anymore, people have figured out how to deal with special moves.
Haha. I do know how to get around them I was just asking what you thought. -.-
Spam also isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however.
It works against some players/characters, but nobody’s going to call it high-level play. If somebody’s doing it when it clearly isn’t working, then they’re probably new to the game.
I can state the obvious too.
What i’m trying to get at is, high ranked players will do this and then they send you a message calling YOU a scrub. The irony.
Most people who message you to call you a scrub are life scrubs. Don’t sweat it. Why would you care what some random thinks? Where the hell is your sense of self?
If you lose to some random horribly lame tactic, some people would think you’re a scrub. Just because YOU don’t make the other guy have to work to beat you doesn’t make him bad. Most people have way more tricks behind “spam DP and fireballs”, but often you have to actually show them that they need to try something else. That’s on you. And maybe they’re perfectly happy spamming DP and fireballs because it can be kinda dumb fun. Find some “friends” to play against who play the way YOU want to play. This isn’t rocket science.
I’d say that high-ranked (online) does not equate to high-level - but that’s just me.
Anyway, people play the way they like - ultimately, the winner who can consistently win is the one who gets to determine what’s high level and what’s not. If spamming DPs and fireballs can get someone there, then they can say what they like.
“Cool! Someone who knows how to play SF! I think I’ll add him to my friend’s list”
