you really know your shit. that brings back some of the best nostalgia for me. in fact i actually HATED kof as a game till 95 came out, never bothered with 94 as SSII was always in my neo.
SFA II: New Orleans (forgot who’s stage). That dancing black man by himself kills me every time
KOF: Brazil/Ikari team stages. Having those down helicopters always me wonder, "what did these assholes do, now…?"
Psycho Soldier Team usually has fun stages, too.
Eternal Champions: nearly all the stages. In fact, the background artwork in the game is what inspired me to take art scenery classes.

Tell you what stages I hate though, Elena’s stage in 3s and rainy rooftops from CVS2… man those stages make my eyes hurt.
don’t forget about them jumping out of the background at the beginning of the match in true Fatal Fury style!!!
Also I like the AST of that stage.
Hmm… I always like Nakoruru’s stages in the Samurai Shodown games.
I think the music sounds “sadder” in the Genesis version, or something. Makes it more memorable…
9 times out of 10, I prefer the 16-bit versions of music to the original “higher quality” versions. Don’t know why…I just do!

I’ve always loved the completely inappropriate FF team music from that stage…mainly because it’s so inappropriate. West Side Story-style snapping in a fighting game? Genius.

SCIV - Jyurkudia Village - Virgin Snow. It’s mainly the music I really like.
Inside the wooden ship in MK Deception (with the hanging corpses you can throw around).
There’s actually a lot of stages in the MK games that I like since Deadly Alliance because
they’re all interactive. Some other old school ones from other fighting franchises have already
been mentioned though, but my favorite of all has to be that Akuma stage I listed first.

Nice. Yeah, it was a life changing moment back in the day when I finally realized that Terry’s FF3/RB1 theme was the same song as the FF Team '96 theme.
