i used to do find an opponent and i felt your pain!
then i wanted to get all the secret characters and so i did the arcade mode thing. it takes like a full hour to beat the computer for me haha set on one round, easiest difficulty
it’s honestly such a joy to play sf now!!! but then my MP and roundhouse broke… so it’s even more frustrating cuz i end up losing some of the games that i woulda won if that shit worked!
I pretty much always feel a nice amount of input lag in 3 bar games, the bars seem pretty accurate when it comes to measuring input lag. 4 bar games generally feel better but 5 bar games usually feel like the best 4 bar connections pre patch. When it gets to 3 bars it feels like the timing is changing way too much. At least when sticking to 4 or 5 bars the connections wont vary as much and you can hang on to your timing somewhat. Some of the 4/5 bar games will with stutters and shit but that’s usually just someonme with a fucked up connection that should normally have a good connection going with you.

I had the same problem, but i bought a new wireless router, and it finds matches really quick, like 3 seconds in both quick search and advanced search and maybe like 2 outta 20 times i’ll get a “cant play cus the room is full” message. I’ve yet to get an “Unable to Connect” screen.
This is what I bought. Linksys Wireless G Router Its fucking amazing.
This is what Im using as well. Make sure you open your ports for your Xbox and you will even have a better connection. Dont use the Wifi, connect your 360 with a cable.
Is a great site for all routers.

Make a lobby or turn on Fight Request…
Because you are doing Quick Match, it doesnt check the connection first so thats why it finds players faster. If you search Custom Match and put in Stability itll find good connections for you
Or do Custom Match and set everything to Any. You’ll have the same thing as Quick Match but up to 15 different choices
What’s ridiculous in the system they implemented is that they ask us to do stupid things that should be obviously automated.
Like… when the game is “unavailable” or w/e, they ask us if we still want to keep searching or not…
WTF is that? “NO NO, Foggin turn off my console RIGHT NOW! I don’t want to play this game ANYMORE KAPKOM!” …jeez
And why the hell are they giving us the choice between 3 different players?
So we can decide if we want to play against the one with the worst connection or not???
Give me a rival with 3 bars or more (or best connection maybe-_-) I don’t give a shit about his pink icon.
I don’t know what they were thinking but it shouldn’t be necessary to press the same goddamn button like 40 times in a row before being able to play against someone else.
Plz Capcom, don’t ever let Japanese develop online features again.

Yeah…capcom screwed sf 4 online.
HD remix an had amazing online system. And many other fighters do as well.
The search function can be pretty annoying at times, especially when you finally get a match and the person drops after one game.
Just do what has already been recommended, Arcade req’s on or create a lobby, and wait for a challenger. You can also set up match request within this forum or invite from your friends list so that you dont have to use the search feature.
