I know it’s true but I refuse to believe it until I see a confirmation in writing. Easier to counterhit st.MP, revoke EX GH buffs but keep the nerf. I thought we lost the knockdown because we got a longer range LP SPD. We can’t have both, right? So now we can have neither? Then only 60% with UCW. It’s honestly starting to feel like they’re trolling us.
Kim 1234 confirmed it on Twitter, +1 on hit after a landed EX GH, no knockdown. The tweet was already posted on the rebalance thread in the main forum.
What’s also perplexing is they seem to listen to what other players want with their mains but with Gief they completely ignore us and just keep nerfing him into oblivion. Making retarded changes that make no sense on top of that. Forget being a bottom five character, he’s gunning for the very bottom with Hugo. If these changes stick then I’m not even gonna bother getting the game.
It would appear as those Zangief is broken in the uncompetitive sense. If it looks like garbage, smells like garbage … it probably is garbage.
What we have here is more questions than answers.
But I’m a bit skeptical that this isn’t an accurate updated change log.
Far standing MK is a good and welcomed changed. But probably does NOTHING to his current game.
I’m not liking hit confirms into LPGH. With what I believe the best answer is to crouch block, then tech. It’s the overall safest answer. When you don’t have Ultra 1 stocked, THERE IS NO ANSWER FOR THROW, and you can’t punish it!!! EDIT: Actually you can, jump cancel Atomic Suplex, but you risk FULL COMBO from a 3 frame normal. If you wrongly guess jump or SPD, you die. Back dash is a bit iffy, some characters could really punish it hard, and shoryuken gets you anyhow. I think a better approach is to go into far MP to reset them into a more favorable position, similar to EXGH +1 on hit from AE. So even if you can finish combos with LPGH, you wouldn’t. Save the drama for when you really need it, like o/s lights xx LPGH.
Against the 1-2 frame throws, combos into LPGH is only advisable if you FADC back dash on successful hit and then punish their mashed SPD or Ultra, preferably with the staple combo, jumping MK, close MK xx EXGH. With a 26 frame back dash, it may be quite hard to get a jumping HP or HK in. And it highly depends on which SPD they use, dictating their amount of recovery from 40-ish frames to 60 frames. Then it becomes a guessing game, where you may be able to get away with landing LPGH combos, as they can’t always autopilot a counter.
The sped up LPGH, hopefully is fast enough to be your approach tool, to quickly get into MAX distance for the kara LP SPD or far MP or jump out punish. It might not even be viable.
With a significantly weakened EXGH, that you can’t count on, or need FRAME perfect execution, especially against the great zoners/projectile matchups. We need a buff with KKK or PPP in terms of reduced recovery frames to remain competitive, or a buff in it’s anti-projectile ability. Sonic Booms are hard to handle already, and now, even more so.
-4 or -5 on block after shoryuken FADC forward dash is a welcomed buff to Zangief, as they have to risk it, to get the biscuit.
Not to mention that with the new delayed standup tech, we won’t be able to keep our safejump pressure no more, with lp.greenhand at -2 on hit we can only crounch tech after that, ex.greenhand is still +1 but we won’t be able to combo it…so how do you survive with gief?
Capcom said that this is still under review. Also, a few chars get FADC backdash xx ultra too, so, given the nature of Gief’s gameplay, he’ll still get hosed by FADC SRKs. In fact, a lot of characters were already -2 on FADC forward, including harder MUs like Sagat and Ryu.
I’m sure they’re even more disgusted at the bullshit. I’ve been waiting to see some of their feedback but I’m betting some are just gonna drop him and have given up hope.
First lariat was op, then ex.gh was op. Now they think that jab spd, jumping hp, st.mp, and st.lk/cr.lp os ex.gh are all op. So they take all that away and give up what? Close st.lk is cancellable lol. Good stuff Capcom, you couldn’t be more clueless when it comes to this character.
