Close standing light kick is now special, focus, red focus and super cancellable.
Far standing medium punch hurtbox increased. Hurtbox now appears in front of him from the first frame.
Far standing medium kick is now -3 frames on block, instead of -7 frames. -7 frames on block, instead of -10 frames.
Angled jump heavy punch hurtbox slightly increased.
Light Piledriver range changed to 1.70 from 1.75.
Light Banishing Flat now has 8 frames startup instead of 11 frames. Hit advantage is now -3 frames instead of -5 frames. It is now -8 frames on block instead of -7 frames.
Medium Banishing Flat now has 11 frame startup instead of 13 frames. It is now -6 on block instead of -8.
Heavy Banishing Flat now has 14 frames startup instead of 16 frames. it is now -6 on hit instead of -7, and -7 on block instead of -9.
-3 / -5 whats the difference? not much. theres still a punish from the whole cast.
lol, it all goes full circle, first changelist was absolute shit for us, we got mad, we got some buffs in the way, and the final changelist takes the best of them away, and it’s also a direct nerf to Lights OS GH > Red Focus considering that we’ll have less meter to play with now.

If they didn’t listen then, they probably won’t listen now. I’ve heard some people saying that these aren’t final and there will be another list when Decapre releases. So, maybe there’s a glimmer of hope. I’m wouldn’t hold my breath for it though.
But we havent really done anything to get our voices heard, other than talking to our respective area-capcom-rep in a tour where everyone is spamming them
You guys have to much faith in Combofiend and the rest of the team. Normally, I’m the optimistic type too but just look at the pattern since Vanilla. Look what they’ve done to this character after every iteration. Read and listen to what Combofiend says about Gief.
All I hear other character players talking about is wanting their moves + frames on block and we are over here just trying to have lpgh -2 or on HIT, wth.
That is ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATING. An astonishing AND cowardly crippling blow for all Zangief players.
LPGH going from -2 into an unfavorable mix-up to -3 a 100% Guaranteed punish with disadvantage.
This really puts an end to Zangief’s hopes and dreams to remain competitive.
Say goodbye to the GREATEST whiff punisher you will ever see.
No more meter-less combos into LPGH.
No more infinite option selects
No more reaction back dash punishes
At the current rate, I will use LPGH on hit occasionally once a month for its surprise factor.

Gief is gonna be trash in Ultra imo. That -3 really is a crushing blow and don’t forget that most characters are getting better so our previously iffy and bad mu’s will potentially be getting way worse, can you even imagine lol. Personally I will always blame Combofiend cause he is completely clueless when it comes to this character. As soon as I heard he was hired I knew Gief would be dead and it seems to be happening.
Dont worry comrades. Ive been told that those changes are only for the japanese arcade release and they will be back to lpgh -2 and c.lk +5 in the console release. dont want to say anything before its final but that lpgh is gonna be game changer. im happy again.
