Question time: For Marco, how do you appropriately set up the POW to do fireball attack for a good combo? I don’t understand if it’s based on time, a certain input, or both.
First off, Tactical Step in general limits the use/spamming of projectiles. You will generally only see them used from full screen on an opponent who is getting up from a knockdown, in order to set up the next approach. There are a few exceptions, such as characters like Robert and Hanzou. In Robert’s case, his Ryu Geki Sen has really fast recovery, combined with the high/low variations and mixing up the speed, it makes him really good at zoning with them. With Hanzou, his C Rekko Zan is super-fast, so you can use it as a poke, sorta like Alpha 2 Ryu’s Hadokens.
In Kim’s case, the character is just way too fast in general to be zoned by fireballs, and as noted in the above post, he utilizes Tactical Step and GCFS better than everyone else. He is able to use Tactical Step from longer ranges and still punish with his cr.A, which then leads to a big combo. With Big it’s a little more difficult, depending upon the character you’re fighting. His lariat can avoid projectiles the same way you would do it with Gief in SF. A character like Robert can give him problems though.
Sorry, no. Kim breaks the game, if anyone. Big is overrated. Like I said before, he’s just a silly character and is boring to fight.
Uh…you can’t.
When Hyakutaro (the POW) fires is completely and utterly random. I’ve seen him fire as soon he comes out and I’m seen him prance around 20 seconds before shooting.
I think it’s a lot of fun. I like the game. Nobody I know plays it though.
Doesn’t seem consistent with the current competition flow in Japan, I’d say Big is probably comparable to someone like 3s Ken as opposed to SF2 Akuma.
all this talk in this thread is gonna force me to start playing this game again.
I completely remember why I don’t have a actual set team. Because there’s a fucktard of characters I actually like to use in this game. (K, Terry, Rock, Moriya, Hanzo, sometimes Fuuma, Kyo, Akari, Mr. Karate)
yea. Half the reason I chose this over CFJ was due to the mix of characters and actual characters who haven’t been seen in a game for so long. If only Capcom learned.
The game should be avaible on PSN/Live IMO, it’s a quality yet unfortunatly overlooked game. I have a better time playing this then I do most KOF games and even SF4.
Well, there’s been rumors here and there for this game making it to XBL. Last time I updated my Shiki faq, it asked me if I wanted to add it to the 360 section for the game. With Garou, 2k2 and 98 making their way there, I’d say it’s possible.
The only thing I find myself questioning is the Japanese ranking of K’ up there. He doesn’t have…anything good. Yeah, he might win on youtube some, but so does Yuki.
I’m all for playing the game some more, and have been pulling for it for years, but it’s not added in favor of RB, WH or something usually. I haven’t even played this with anyone since…early 2008? Late 2007?
Fixed it for you. It had nothing to do with learning and everything to do with Capcom throwing out something made on a shoestring budget and coded by 6 people.
re: NGBC
Interestingly, I played this for the first time last week. Despite it being a pseudo-sequel of the worst fighter in years (SvC), it’s actually pretty good. I had a lot of fun with Geese/Haohmaru. I don’t think I would play it by myself though.
Yuki’s bottom?! But she has tetris blocks!
I wish I had more people to play this with.
Yuki is the dude, you’re thinking of Ai.
Somebody come to NC and play NGBC with me.
Maybe there could be some at Evo this year, FOR REAL?
FOR REAL
I was taken aback by how much CFJ looks like a MUGEN project:

Except I think some of the guys working on MUGEN could have done even better:

I used to dabble in this game. Sometimes I dabbled in the NGBC thread with indications and breakdowns of BIG’s bad matchups while everyone dibbled about how he was broken.
You also dibbled and dabbled in “just pick Kim/Big” quite a bit in person. :lovin:
This is the truth, hence I say guys you all need to stop whining about Big-Kim…it stops some of us players from wanting to help you all out.
Who can stop Big and Kim?! Haohmaru can stop Big and Kim!
Standing B! Standing B! Standing B! Standing B! Standing B! Standing B! Standing B! Standing B!
Fixed 4 u.
Only weaksauce Kims do Tactical Step into throw, true BEASTS will cr.A or close C into a combo for your SOUL.
Buzzkill…
Besides, I was referring to standing B on reaction. It’s a good counter-poke from what I’ve seen, no matter who Haohmaru is up against.
