Hmm im on the fence now, the LS-40 is sounding like the one i want to try. I guess this is one of those “you gotta try to see” kinda things. As for the Octo-gate, i main Guile so im not sure how that would translate on an octogate since the square gate makes it very easy to keep charges while maintaining my defense so i prolly wouldnt go that route.
Also ive never seen that “second dustwasher” there definitely isnt one on my JLF.
It’s all personal preference & I worked with all of the Japanese joysticks now. I said this before, it’s all about what you want not what we want.
When I ordered a Sanwa JLF-TP-8T from Lizard Lick, it does come with two dust washers.

I guess i should have asked what you were planning on using this stick for.
I originally had my ls-40 in an Hori Fs3.
Octogate for charge characters isnt as bad as it sounds, the gate actually shortens the downback to upback motion.
(on a side note) i main balrog + guile, and i ultimately gave the FS3 to a friend of mine who main’d guile for years. We ended up switching the ls40 for an ls32 and he couldnt be happier.
I play SF on a LS-40-1 and I couldn’t be happier. I actually hate large engages, and even larger throws. I shortened the throw to the point the stick only engages and there is no throw. I main claw and have to constantly charge and jump and what not, and it works fine for me. Don’t have accidental jump problems on the stick, only on d-pads, and I’m also the type of player to ride the gate a lot, so making the throw minimal works for me.

Never!!
LS-56 has the shortest engage, consider to try both 40 & 56 again and you see that the 40 is not the shortest.
