anyone has a name/model of a good one to hack? I"m looking for something with common ground, and has 10 buttons or more.
^ x-box 360 USB controller
I study mame aracde. USB is best of the world. Why…Stick P360 using an USB 2.0 Hi speed fast has 5 volt. There aren’t all 5 volt… possible 3.7 volt
can be only Fatty PlayStation 2 or PS3 system has a female USB connector.
Thanks Sony! save my life.
forgot to say don’t mention ps3/xbox360. those things are way too expensive and are not native usb to the best of my knowledge. you need drivers and programs etc… to make it work. and no common ground or unclear common ground as in some does some don’t. I want one to know for sure.
opips: I asked you a question in regards to the chip whether or not it works has nothing to do with usb. I was asking for the playstation. I am well aware that usb produce 5v+. so DOES the chip work?
u could crack open a keyboard and solder wires to each contact… i have never done this but i think it is possible. and a 360pad will work u just need drivers and its not that much… my computer alerted me that i needed drivers for the device lol
USB 2.0 Hi speed has wire red is 5 voltage and black is ground. That’s power help to something chip.
I decided to run a separate 5V wire up to the chip for P360. I did that working it from Mame Arcade tutor.
My girlfriend has a pair of these:
They work very well but I never opened them up so I don’t know about common ground but they do have 10 buttons and are pretty cheap.
so you’re telling me that you use the method I mention before? that means you didn’t buy the converter correct? you use the usb on the fat ps2. if so, then forget the question. sorry, took a couple of readings to understand what you meant.
can you test it for me? if not it’s cool. but thanks for the heads up, and these are exactly what I was talking about, cheap controllers for hacking.
When I get a chance I’ll open one up and take a pic of the PCB for you. I’ve opened up other Logitech controllers before and they didn’t look like they were very hard to hack. Pretty sure they had common grounds too.
this.

it costs around $3 locally, so it’s mad cheap. Dilong PU101. common ground, 10 buttons. the only problem is the cable’s kinda short. MAKE FUCKIN SURE it’s a PU101. the 102 doesn’t have common ground. you should be able to find some on ebay.
uh 360 pads are the best to get for pc. you can get the mad catz microcon gamestop controller for under 20 bucks usually. with common ground, or you can get the mad catz live arcade stick for under 10 bucks anywhere that has em.
and ive never needed to download drivers for any of my 360 stuff. they were all plug and play.
plus it doubles up as a 360 stick. theres seriously no reason to use a pc pad over a 360.
and 360 pads are native usb…
you’re choice. tho. im just shedding some light for you
I can’t even find third party 360 controllers here in Singapore. Much less common ground ones. :annoy:
I prefer using 360/xbox pads just for the fact that you can remap the controls using XBCD. Just need to force the drivers to install for third party controllers. Haha.
But generally it seems that anything that looks really cheap probably has a common ground.
Take a trip over to groovygamegear.com. Randy there has several options for controllers that work on the PC. He also carries Happ parts if that is what you are looking for.
I used a nyko pad with fans in it to hook to a stick, very easy… intercooler i think?
A basic digital thrust-master is only like $10.

But they could be the bad comp parts
