Anime nerds aren’t even good at the damn game. It’s the same shit people have been giving GG players for the past few years, and it’s fucking annoying. Sure, there are some that play it but how many of them are any damn good? Anyone that even at least SOMEWHAT knows what they’re talking about will tell you the percentage is actually pretty low.

I play it since it’s fun. Watching the anime and knowing about the characters contributes to the fun factor.
I don’t play it competitively, however, seeing as how there isn’t any competition.
I made this thread in the hope that I might recieve insight into the depths of Melty Blood, and in fact be able to enjoy the game, because even though it looks bland, I thought there might be a little more to it. It seems it is about as bland as I thought according to other people, though. I think I was wrong, and the shield button is a good button after much contemplation and reconsidering.
And I know who I mean by Aesop, and you know who I mean by Aesop, and anyone who doesn’t know, well, I don’t care if they think it is the guy that wrote Aesop’s Fables or not. Yeah so why play MB over GG? GG looks like 80,000x better, has more interesting characters, more options for attacking and defending (unless MB has a ton of shit i dont know about), and it is so much more fun. And maybe it is tiers about SC2 in depth because you need to precisely time your combos to the point of not being fun, but SC2 isn’t a bad fighting game by any means, and I’d rather play it any day of the week over this.
So I guess this thread could be closed, I have heard nothing that makes me think different of MB, it still seems pretty crap, solid perhaps, but boring as hell.

The game is wildly popular in Japan, and here it’s a mouse fart. Now it’s getting more love thanks to it’s console release, the hell is wrong with that?
If you like it, play it. Keep playing it. Go into the thread and ask questions. Hit up the wiki and read up on the basics.

If you want a decent answer to this, check the AC for PS2 thread, and if you can find it, the older ReACT and Final Tuned thread. The game does has stuff to discover about it, but realistically speaking you cannot expect something as deep as Guilty Gear.
You can find Ikusat’s videos on gamecombos and YouTube. His videos show that it is possible to do fun stuff with the game’s engine.
GG’s looking better is relative. The characters are hi-res but the animation is poor. IMO I prefer good animation over resolution, so I do think that MB looks as good as GG, and that 3S looks better than both.
Why not just play GG? Variety. Every game can be fun on its own way. And helps to keep every game fresh. Sometimes you just want to play a simpler game and relax.
There is also the limitation on people around you. In Atlanta all I played is GG. Here in Miami its mostly Melty Blood with some Third Strike. Dunno about you, but playing the same game over and over and over and over can be tiring, even if you keep learning stuff.
Not untrue. Looking at the AC sales in Japan it is not hard to see that the game is selling more because it is a Type-Moon game rather than because it is a good fighting game. That doesn’t stop some of us to play the game with the perspective of a fighting game player.
If you want to know about the characters forget about the anime (it’s waaaaaaay off) and read the manga (published in the US by DrMaster).
