The only sources of that I know were around before SFIV launched. Mainly that they didn’t want to do fighting games in general and Ono had to plead to make SFIV. Past that I doubt there’s any new sources considering they’ve already come out with 2 SF IP games after IV
The title of this thread has plagued me as I’ve become disenchanted with SFV - and now Capcom in general.
Ono not in charge of SFV, dev communication going silent for months at a time, capcom taking an entire year to give us nostalgic costumes, Capcom PR enraging/insulting fans with idiotic statements. I don’t know where it starts and where it ends.
Capcom did have an exodus of talent(say what you will about Inafune, at least he TRIED with Mighty No. 9 and he was pretty instrumental in getting a number of series made - http://www.ign.com/articles/2011/05/09/capcom-didnt-want-to-make-dead-rising-lost-planet ) and it seems like there’s a number of internal battles at Capcom, between development/executives and Japan/USA.
I tried to like SFV until Overwatch came out - I tried its’ free weekend before launch - it was beautiful. Responsive online. Had characters I actually wanted to play as. The results of “battles” and “duels” made sense, and replays showed me where I went wrong. So I bought it.
It was a WORLD of difference - developers who cared. Balance changes that made sense. Seamless online where I could INSTANTLY get into games.
I think Evo/E3 definitely has shown just how out of touch/less effort Capcom is putting in, and people aren’t fooled.
I know for parts of SFV, they’ve contracted out work, but part of me wonders if ANY of MVCI is actually NOT contracted.
I know people will accuse me of hyperbole, but MVC3 looks better - I get more hype from MVC3 trailers than i have from anything so far in MVCI. Say what you will about MVC2 and 3, each entry increased the HYPE when we didn’t think that was possible.
SFV has money in it, and that may be it’s only redeeming quality at this point.
But as the saying goes, nature abhors a vacuum, and Capcom isn’t our only choice. Tekken 7, Injustice 2 are excellent and it doesn’t seem like the fighting games incoming are stopping any time soon
Don’t talk. Its easy to identify who has actually played all the versus games and who hasn’t.
In other news, capcom needs a complete restructuring in their marketing department and their communication team. Marvel has a bunch of retards working for them so maybe they were being retards too. This whole thing is a mess
Power stone wall bounce into HKD, dash/fly over c.LK pick up is pretty funny to watch. Reminds me of the old Nova style warm up a hot pocket fly over and OTG shit.
The long untechable time is mostly a result of the priority animation and framerate is given in games these days. Can’t have models jerking around the screen anymore, it doesn’t look good. There are also flashy moves with long startup due to animation time that the developers want to have otg potential, such as Ultron’s drones. I will agree that on it’s own, that knockdown time looks silly. That being said, Infinite’s untechable time is a blink compared to UMVC3’s.
It’s funny there’s an argument about this when you consider that when a certain MvC2 player made his own game that’s pretty much an homage of 2, he used the same 1 guaranteed hard knockdown into crouching light formula.
I was not comparing KOFXIV with TEKKEN7 or SFV. When I said that I meant it sucked vs old KOF titles. ugh how did I not reply to this back when it came up?
Much of our comments got sent by youtube to that channel’s spam inbox cuz we all wrote walls of text. We got stuck, at least I did, since the owner of that channel passed away http://kof-uk.blogspot.com/2017/05/rest-in-peace-community-member-toxico.html and so there was no one to moderate the comments. But man thanks for spreading false info about me, thanks a lot
Hopefully Disney is in the process of buying their ass, that’s what I hope. Honestly I think it would be for the best, Capcom have a whole back catalogue of defunct IPs that they refuse to ressurect and they’re literally making no money off of them, where as Spider-Man has been rocking it for 60 something years, maybe more can’t be bothered to fact check.
Point is, Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, Cyberbots, Captain Commando, they could all be having new runs of comics with Marvel instead of fucking Udon, who can’t even redraw sprites to save Sirlin’s sorry ass. Rock Paper Scissors RIP.
More westernisation of eastern material would be a good thing, as it would convince Capcom USA that using these characters have financial value. They could then be drafted in exactly the same way Marvel characters are, they could plan a line of Darkstalkers comics and merge it with the Marvel universe, perhaps they want to put emphasis on Demitri’s story so they have valid reasons to include him in games instead of the same Darkstalkers we see over and over, because it draws attention to their comic line and introduces the Marvel fan base to new and more exciting characters.
I just, this is the only way I see it working. Let Capcom focus on Street Fighter, Capcom Cup, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, Ace Attorney, Mega Man, etc, and let another company deal with old assets in a new positive way. Capcom aren’t losing anything that they’re currently using to make money, all they’d do would be release them selves of these obvious burdens and draft in extra money from other places.
Pyron could quite easily be an intergalactic Marvel villain on the same level of Galactus, Captain Comando could quite easily be an Avenger, Pyron consumes planets he’d be more powerful than Ego, like I honestly see these things being feesable. All it takes is another company to pull out Capcom’s shit stained butt plug and slap them across the face with it show them how silly they’re being.
