What's going on at Capcom?

You don’t have to be a narcissist to realize a game that constantly talks about being accesible, yet ships with no arcade mode, is inferior to… pretty much every other contemporary fighter.

This is definitely on point. Games such as KOF XIV, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev. 2, & Tekken 7 deserves a lot more attention than what SF V & MvC: Infinite is getting here in the U.S.

And the truth is, Capcom shouldn’t have even came back to the fighting scene at all. Most of the talent that they used to have from the 90’s are no longer there, with the exception of the old-school team from MvC 1 for MvC: Infinite, being Norio Hirose & his gang. Yoshinori Ono is certainly no pro.

I truly believe if it wasn’t Capcom putting a lot of money on esports, SFV would be smaller than all other games, so I guess that’s where the “deserves” part come from.

sure i understand why and what people mean.
the idea is a common one.

it’s not ‘genuine’.

as far as esports etc. that’s what people wanted. we had this discussion years ago.

if you want a game to get the attention it deserves, play it and watch it. there’s nothing more to it. there are no real obstacles anymore. you don’t need to find an arcade with it.
most old games can be played for free via emulator and the others are accessible on multiple platforms without leaving your home. streaming is easy, it’s 2017.

there is no excuse. put your money and time where your mouth is.

Except people do take the time and watch other tournaments and games that they love, that’s a pretty ridiculous conclusion to jump to.

Where the problem truly lies is with the TO at times. Look at how EVO is always handled, Capcom is given way too much love as well as Nintendo at times and every other game can go fuck itself. DOA is the best example as even though the community is small, that was never the main reason itself on why it never made it back to the main stage when it came to the fifth installment. It was mainly a lot of complete nonsense made worse that Team Ninja was actively supporting the scene itself and knows what incentives they would have done if it was added back and how many people would attend to show off the game to the world.

There is a lot more problems as well including lack of exposure which can mean more than simple advertising(look at eventhubs and tell me how many Capcom articles are made in a single day compared to any other fighting game?). Honestly E-Sports simply CANNOT work with the FGC this way as only one or two games getting all the limelight will lead to major trouble when they cannot deliver

Its always “if not for this, my community would be BOOMING”

GG is doing great and so is BB. What do you want, 1 million dollar tournaments?

All that sponsor and e-sports shit is wack as fuck.

Play the games you love, and stop worrying about shit that doesn’t have anything to do with that love and enjoyment you have.

Yeah, this graph is really representative of future game sales… surely DBZ will sell better than CoD, right? Right?

No, but MVCI will bomb for sure with its embarrassing roster, hideous graphics, lazy development and horrible word of mouth.

Swing and a complete miss against my point.

No one is saying what little thing can make a community boom or whatever, but that there are opportunities in which gaming communities CAN become bigger but never happen simply due to not being given that chance.

Even simple things as adding in games that aren’t as popular and letting popular streamers run it is far more beneficial than say letting them run Marvel only all day

This is clearly more Marvel’s fault than Capcom’s, they’re the ones calling all the shots. They’re the ones saying to make Marvel characters look better, they’re the ones telling them to bench characters so their own can be in the spotlight, they’re the ones saying no X-Men. After reading that last leak I kind of feel sorry for the dev team, it seems less like neglect on their behalf but more lack of care and motivation because of Marvel’s demands. I honestly don’t blame them for ngaf if the last leak is true.

Irony, thy name is Po.

I remember jokingly thinking somewhere around halfway through AE2012’s lifecycle about how Capcom had hit rock bottom and there was no way things could get any worse. I got a kick out of pointing out every little stupid thing that game had to offer and made sure everyone else I played with aware of them, too. But you know what? I still had fun. I still put a ton of time and effort into getting better and stuff.
But this? This is like seeing your friend go from a goofy screwup to a serious alcoholic. I can’t even playfully tease this effort.

I’m not giving KoF a pass graphics-wise either, since it seems this thread was starting to go in a “but they did it too!” direction. That shouldn’t give Capcom a free pass. All things considered MvC:I looks worse than XIV anyway.

You actually believe that leak? What sense does it make to make half the characters in a game look like dogshit, first of all? Secondly, that guy was let go a few weeks ago before E3, yet only brought this revelation to reddit AFTER we saw something was up with the Capcom roster at E3? Why not say something before?

Fchamp confirmed it in an interview with Born Free, the Marvel cast look amazing, and the Capcom cast look ugly. Disney wanted the Marvel side of the cast to be worked on first so that they looked at their best to potential customers in demos and on the floor at events. It benefits Marvel because that’s their demographic, they want the MCU fans to see their favourite characters and potentially buy the game, as opposed to seeing the Capcom characters looking better and not appealing to Marvel fans at all. Fchamp also confirms that the real build looks better, and judgements are being made solely on the demo. (Stfu with the shill crap).

The very first leaks were true, no X-Men and no Fanstastic 4, the design choice leaks were true, other leaks have proven to be correct also, the only inconsistencies are in roster leaks.

Does anyone know why FChamp keeps referring to himself in the third person here?

SRK, the most delusional place on the planet. SFV has really screwed with people’s heads, dawg…

Anyway I like Fchamp so that’s a compliment.

Until your true identity is revealed, Flicky, I must speculate.

There’s a reason people are on the pros for shilling. The game looks like ass and is clearly not a game worthy of full price, it’s a cash grab.

Pro players are fake hyping because it’s on their best interest to, they see dollar signs. This is FChamp’s game, a franchise he did very well at. Of course he would want it to be successful and want people to play that’s how he gets paid

No what you’re describing is just how esports destroys diversity.

It has nothing to do with ‘the FGC’, which is not a thing. At least, it isn’t a community. It’s a preference at best. Like saying you like heavy metal. It means almost nothing.
It has everything to do with money. It is more and more about viewers, not players and about making money.

Kids aren’t interested in jai alai.
Just like they don’t give a fuck about Vampire.

So ultimately the only way around it is actually exactly what I said. That means not being a part of whatever mainstream ‘FGC’ (lol) is doing. It means just doing your thing.
Something which is extremely common and represents ACTUAL communities across the world playing and enjoying games they like.
