Yo, Balrog has the best color designs for all his outfits.
Thats just my opinion.
I actually love this design of him.
I never played Balrog once, but this all changes my mind.

His ranges all feel terrible lol.
Can someone answer me this:
Does every character in SFV have the same throw range?
I was trying to tick throw with Balrog and it felt like his grab range was just sickening.

Well of course his ranges are terrible. His range stat is 1.

His ranges seem similar to Ryu/Guile or even Rashid. We’ll have to wait for the official data.

His normals have good range, at least coming from a Ryu player they freel godlike.

do you guys think his turn punch will be useful? i hate hold/release moves -_- and toying around with him I almost never use it.

to me, it seems like he’s based around kkb mixups/cancels from special moves and hitconfirming his 3hit tc from a lot of normals

Holy fuck I’m having way too much fun with balrog. As in, more fun than I do with alex. Hnnngggggg. I think I’m just clicking with his new style.

Now my question is; is his lk target combo a good wakeup pressure option? I’m finding success in trying to meaty it on characters with no reversals(or meterless at least). If it connects, cool, if it doesn’t you can stop at the 2nd hit and you’re back at c.mp or st. hk range. It’s been my go to strategy tonight and it’s working out nice. Mixing up kkb is pretty sweet too. I like doing a whiffed kkb overhead on their wakeup after a hard knockdown to followup with a throw, but it’s really gimmicky and probably just a day 1 thang.

I don’t see any notable problems with the character. I think characters with long diagonal jump in buttons can be a problem at times, such as nash or ken jumping in with mk. His crush counters are kind of hard to confirm off of. I really with HK crush counter put you at a closer range, most often you have to dash in and mk xxmp target off of it.

I went back to playing Ryu cause his normals feels so strange.
However i must say. Balrogs s.MK has a deceptive hitbox

Anyone using the fuzzy guard he has, it’s pretty good.

Jump in HK instant jump forward short, works on pretty much everyone AFAIK.
