I didn’t say what I said to be a dick. Just an FYI. I just get kinda tired of people bitching about SFIV being so different/lame/whatever but they kind of leave out the fact it’s the first “real” new fighter we’ve had in 10 years.
Some first impressions will be good, some won’t and that’s fine but you shouldn’t totally cast if off after not even a month of console release.
Thats what pisses me off man. I’ve been waiting for some sick ass sequal to 3s explaining some characters origin or maybe a stronger Urien,Oro,Ryu,maybe even Mel, and they go back in time with the story line???
I know that seems unfair but, when snk vs capcom came out, I saw it for 3 min and rid it off as a wack game and everybody called me a hater. 2months later, everybody here agreed it was crap compared to capcom vs snk 2. The only reason I think people are trying to give 4 a chance is because it IS streetfighter 4 hoping to see something cool or hoping is has more to offer to be discovered.
And remember Japan finds shit out FAST!

I watched Onuhki use Chun and in 3 rounds all I saw was a cool head stomp combo.

I’m not sure how the scene was here since I just moved up here a few months ago…but when I was living in Panama City everybody hated 3s when it first came out. Then we started actually learning how the game was meant to be played and we started to like it. It was something new and different to the Street Fighter franchise and something we began to enjoy.
I still suck at 3s…but it’s still a fun game to play…I’m thinking that maybe once people realize how SFIV needs to be played then it will get blown out of the water. Could be wrong though…won’t know until the time comes I guess.

lol…anyways…i was just kidding. az is all about the sf4 right now. cali is with it to. great shit is coming from both states and the game has way more than overcome the fact that the game is catered to scrubs. the big thing we are taking out of it is that all these new comers to the fighter scene are coming out. arcades have died so long ago and 4 revived them. now with console all these players are coming out and wanting to learn. yes they all pick ryu and ken but what do you expect…it has been some 10 odd years since a new fighter.
also…why do u have to wait a year to see good characters arise that arent ryu and ken. get off you ass and learn those characters. the online system is great and thats the foundation for beasting with new characters.
bottom line…dont be a 3s fanboy. yes the game kicked ass but its not going anywhere. people are still going to play it. its true that if you dont like it that you dont have to play it but everyone that talks shit about it is because they lose. we have a few top SC players here in az and all they do is talk crap about 4…its because they lose. its not even about scrubs. they lose to good players and they are angry about it. best thing is, if your losing to scrubby play…learn from it. adapt.

Its gonna be mad people playing sf4 man the games here to stay. But I’m just saying its wack to me. Its not cause I lose thats part of it. I have a hard time dealing with I cant win with who I want to win with. I KNOW I could use Sag,Gief,or Ryu and win because their moves WORK. But even when I win I dont feel like I owned the pace of the fight like I usually do in other titles. Maybe thats just because I dont know the mechanics yet. Only reason I would continue to play is so people fear me like its been. Competetive spirit is a mothafucka!
Its all good. I’m all for a game bringing people to the arcade again. I just wish 3s had that many people in attendance too. I mean 3s never went anywhere and people were not coming for that. Not too much happens in 4 offensive wise, yet people are coming out the wood work to play it. bah
when it comes to SF3 and all of it’s siblings plus Marvel along with CvS2 those game should have gotten a similar, if not greater, response from SF fans BUT there’s this thing called promotion. Im wathcin’ tv and at random I would see CNN, VH1, Comedy Central, Spike, hell even BET has had commercials aired to promote the game SF4. Marvel didn’t get that. SF3(s) most definitely didn’t get that, and most def to all of the others that should’ve got “the treatment” did not get it. That’s Cap’s fault, and not the scrubs. Hell, they even played the same RE5 commercial one after the other on VH1 a few nights ago and it was the long commercial. not the ones where you see somethin’ random and it’s over in 10 seconds.
IMO, '08 and '09 is the years of the gamers, and only the best series and companys shall survive.
just wait for dat “SF4 X Turbo” to come out a year from now. they’ll make that version less scrub-friendly.

Cameron, you are so right about the story. WTF is up with SF4? I ask but I don’t want an answer. I watched half of a few intros and endings, but for the most part I skipped everything. They couldn’t be more boring. I don’t care about any of the characters in the game. Maybe I just miss 3S with Dudley, Alex, Makoto, Yun/Yang, Urien, Gill… well I could name all the characters I liked in that game. But you have all these cool characters so my next question is why did they ditch them all?
Gill is so much cooler than Seth could ever hope to be. Although I have to admit I am a bit jealous, I’ve always wanted to know what it’d be like to piss Sakura out of my body. Who ever thought of that super needs to be pummeled in the face by a shovel.

Abels Capcoms version of Fedor Emelianko the best mma fighter in the world right now.
They didn’t put 3s peeps in Brian cause the story line takes place between st and new generation. however none of the new gen people are in it. Or niether of the 4 peeps in New Gen. Abel being modeled after Fedor is a contradiction to the story line time line of 4 because Fedor wasn’t even thought of in ST or New Gen days u know.
what pissed me off about people who played against the Abel player let him roll all over the place. I think I was the only one that knew that you can’t hit him out of the roll but you CAN slam/command grab him out of it.

SF3 was actually a step forward though, SF4 is in all seriousness a step back.

Will I play it? Yes, because it is “in” right now, and it is something new.
Do I like it better than 3s or ST? Hell no.
The game really is made for scrubs, which is my biggest gripe. Like True Karate said, I have never in another SF game, even at launch been beat my someone mediocre until this game.
Unorthodox scrub ultras for the loss, I guess. Can’t fuckin stand it.
When I am playing someone good at the crib though offline with no lag I enjoy it.

I’m actually a big fan of Fedor. My friends think he’s overrated and hasn’t fought anybody worth a damn and say he got lucky against arlovski. Whatever, he’ll tear through Barnett and then Dana White will let him in UFC where he’ll take the belt from that giant Lesner.
But the japanese do love him and I can sort of see Fedor’s emotionless face in Abel, so I guess that’s something. It doesn’t mean I like Abel, not with his “I can connect from the entire length of the screen and walk through your fireball” super move. Why give his super those properties and give Akuma a weak demon?
I did enjoy playing against newb akuma players online, though. As soon as they got their super bar they start throwing out jabs hoping they can pull off the rest of the combo.
