Hey guys, check this out LOL

Fucken awesome. I want a shirt of that.

I’ve already seen that. But it never gets old. It’s so pretty. <3
A shirt of that would be amazing.
So how do we fight morridoom? I’ll be thinking on this all weekend.
Zero’s Down H beats out morrigans air S clean. You can bait out that move and do Zero’s Ground Down H move to punish it
Good stuff. I had a feeling was true but hadn’t tested it yet. Down H is a great all around antiair.
Yeah I tested it a few weeks back just to see if there was anything that my team could do to beat morrigans Jumping S/H attack and that does clean. So if your dodging her bullet barrage and try to make ur way in try and bait that move out if once there’s no fireballs around you and you’ll get the counterhit clean which is really good. Doesn’t even trade either no matter what
Fuck zero. He would have another stupid normal nobody uses.
Good find though.
So Zero has an interesting option to bullet hell besides dodge. This is before the trap is setup. You are trying to punish the first fireball. If you predict a ground fireball (very important to start before the fireball comes out) and you are at about fullscreen to about the max zoomed fullscreen (aka far away) and you have buster 3 charged you can do the following:
Jump back, lightning M , wait till in morrigan face, buster, command dash down (qcb L) dash forward M S or just S for launch into full combo.
If morrigan auto pilots fireball fly fireball your buster will connect against her during the fly recovery ( may depend on how fast they fire then fly). They also don’t get a super flash for zero frame unfly so they have to know to cut that stuff short. It might not even help them.
What happens is your lighting may hit, but your buster definately hits. Because of the spacing, the back ground fireball is behind but far away enough to follow up with a combo. The closer you are to her the safer the back fireball makes morrigan. This also seems to dodge Hidden Missiles so long as they aren’t timed to hit you out of lightning startup. I’ve confirmed that something like call doom, start astral, fireball fly is punished for full combo and happy birthday without being interrupted. If you mess up though you get missiled with astral morrigan in your face.
If morrigan doesn’t fireball you probably have to cancel into buster for safety. If she takes to the air you might get a hit or just safety. downside is you lose your charge so you can’t attempt this again until you get it back.
Morrigan trying to use her DP super to punish you doesn’t work. If your buster is fired during the freeze frame you can block. Sometimes you will get above or behind and can punish her. If you are far away during lightning startup you can buster after the flash and block. There may be some mid distance that you get tagged but hopefully its a good trade. Her using that super also cancels astral vision if active so that is definately a good trade.
I hope the above is accurate. I’ve tested it to my best ability but do not have access to someone to run morrigan matches. This may be situational or just impractical.
I also realize Chris G sets up his trap with assist, air down fireballs, etc. During the weekend I plan to watch some match footage and see if the above applies or can be woven into reactions against the trap setups.
^ some interesting stuff. The issue I find is players like Chris G would never start Morrigan vs a character that can threaten her gameplan early on (the likes of Zero, Mags, Wolvie, etc.), and would bring her in off a DHC with the setup ready to go. Right now my best ideas against this involve meter usage, and a competent MorriDoom is gonna deprive you of that
Something like a DHC from doom lasers into morrigan is definately something you have to just deal with. But there is problem for the morrigan player as well. Akuma vs Zero is a fight I would take any day of the week, and if Zero gets the first hit that is dead akuma and a mixup on Doom. If that mixup is successful (it usually is) I’m taking Doom too. The chance to take out morrigan or doom on an incoming mixup is a welcome trade to me.
It also burns more of their meter if they do DHC her in. I don’t yet agree that morrigan in the back is strictly better than morrigan in front. They both have their own problems for her that give you a chance to tear down the team.
For what its worth, Chris G does start Morrigan against Zero, at least he did against my Zero/Dante/Vergil. I honestly think thats a better option than starting Akuma or Doom, since Morrigan dies like everyone else on an incoming mixup and both Akuma and Doom are matchups I’d feel much more comfortable fighting. At least when she’s in the fight, she’s able to get her BS started relatively safe and easily.
My problem was I just wasn’t enough of a mauler early in the match, nor was I patient enough to outlast the Soul Wall. =/
Please tell me you drew that lol.
Nope.
Tumblr is a wonderful thing.
Roll call of the Zero players from CEO? I met a lot of you guys. I was (obviously from my signature) Zero/Ryu/Wesker player that ran Zero/Dante/Akuma on the side. Good games with Jon Slayton, it was easy to spot you because of your hair. There was a guy from Vegas who ran Zero/Vergil/Magneto that was really good too.
I’d love to see those matches between you, me, and your brother.
I did pretty well considering it was my first time fighting another good Zero play in ultimate. You would think playing the character would automatically make me come with matchup knowledge but I really had no idea what to do against another Zero lol. Was a good learning experience.
I still feel that way playing against good zero’s. Just make sure you get the first hit as far as I can tell.
Other than Doom mirrors, Zero mirrors are the worst. Leave a genuine, sour taste in your mouth. It really just comes down to avoiding each other until the better assist connects. That could be a plasma beam, drones, missiles or anything really but yeah in my experience the assists dictate the mirror match. If you’re both playing zero missiles well then… May as well toss a coin x_x It’s messy as hell.
It’s like… there really are no openings. Usually the Zero that tries to go in first gets blown up.
