What works with version b

ok so yesterday we had this tourney at a gamestore that has a jap cab in the back, and i was using urien since i wasn’t used to playing yun on arcade cause combos into genei jin is slower then ps2.

so anywho i hit him someone standard midscreen dash headbutt unblockable after fierce aegis blah blah dash back and f.mk and the guard doesn’t break so i say hey maybe i messed up. ok same match third round i do dash up cr.short,headbutt after throw, strong aegis dash headbutt over f.mk and he blocks it no guard break, after loudly screamig WHAT THE FUCK, DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT BULLSHIT and complaining after losing the set (second game was totally my fault though) i conclude it was version b

so my question to you all is what works and doesn’t work on version b with urien i don’t want to not be able to play him on that cab so what can use and what can’t i

nothing works with version b. avoid it like the plague.

corner unblockables still work. midscreens do not.

does the corner unblockable only works because the hit comes behind him as a crossup? So in fact if you blocked away from the corner you can block that unblockable?

That’s correct. Corner UBs can be blocked on new type.

Does anyone know if toward + hp can be used as a midscreen guard break? It has pretty good range and comes out 2 frames faster than toward + mk, but I’m concerned about whether it’s possible to combo a c.hp afterwards. Something like f + hp, dash, c.hp or f +hp, c.lpx2, c.hp might work. I’d test it myself but I don’t have access to console and the computer always blocks high when I try to do it at the arcade.

Since I play on new type I was thinking of using the midscreen UBs as 50/50s with c.lk and f + hp as guard breaks. Right now I mostly try to get a knock down in the corner and go for a 50/50.

Emm… corner unblockables work. It’s because they break guard by crossing, it’s not just the aegis as in the midscreen UB.

I’m fairly certain they don’t work on new type. I tested it several times today and don’t think my timing was off. Try it on the computer on a new type machine. The comp will block it. It’s actually kind of funny that the computer blocks successfully almost every time I go for a corner 50/50 or corner UB, but if I don’t do anything it wakes up into the Aegis and gets hit by itself. :rofl:

Do it against humans. I played almost one year in a new type, and I’m sure it’s unblockable. But yes, the cpu can block it.

Wtf…no way, really?!? I thought it was only like that for training mode on console. You mean I could’ve been playing on an old type arcade machine this whole time and not realized it? :mad:
I never would’ve guessed because UBs work just fine on the computer on console. Well, maybe now I can stop doing tackle xx hp Aegis, dash up, neutral throw, pray. Thanks for the info! :tup:

if its something like dc version then all my friend did was hold forward to block the kneedrop and block back again for the aegis. if he just blocked back then it was unblockable. that should work on scrubs cause u know their not going to hold forward.

All of the unblockables dont technically work on version b, but you would be amazed how many people actually dont know how to block them. You shouldn’t be throwing out unblockables every time you got an aegis, but you should put one out every now and then to keep them on their toes. You could allways try to use an overhead if they do block it (although I’m not sure if this still works =/), because the aegis will push them towards you, then launch with c.fierce.

With the corner unblockables, you could mix it up with LK and MK/HK knee drops, maybe that could create some weird situations. The LK wont cross, while the others would.

I really should test these ideas before I post them, but theres no ‘no parry’ in the SFAC parry training =(. I guess you could try them out and see how they work.

um… sort time ago, a friend told me about a ‘new SF III - 3rd Strike version’. You’re talking about this ‘new version’ ?? O_o. Anyone Knows if Makoto’s 100% Stun combo still working ?? O_o

Not really. The timing for some things changes a lot. Try doing db.fiercex6 on urien… it’s really hard, I don’t know if it’s even possible. Same thing with some corner stun combos.

well since im kind of sure that nercos db.Fx6 has 1-2 frame timing on it in version A, I am almost positive its the same.

makotos 100% stun should work, because the only “trick” to it is the kara uppercut. I never played ver. b, but i dont think they took out karas.

in Ver B…none of mid-screen unblockables work and corner unblockable with knee drop does’nt work either.

last s.strong work in ver a but not in ver b …
