What were your most highly anticipated fighting game console ports of all time?

Virtua Fighter 1-5.

When VF4:Evolution was announced with an extremely robust training mode and ‘near human A.I.’ I was so hyped I played VF4:Vanilla every minute. Then…Evo got rave reviews and I nearly passed out waiting for my (import) copy of the game to arrive from Japan.

VF5 on the 360, because it had online, had the VF community foaming at the mouth.

But as much as I would like VF5R to come out on consoles, Sega is a terrible company, so I expect nothing from the VF series anymore.

The game I most anticipate is SF2: HD Remix. SFIV looks like it will offer some fun times but unless Third Strike gets an HD Remix I’ll be playing ST:HDR non-stop for years.

Truth. I waited 10yrs for a decent HNK game to come out and finally got one but, SF2 for the snes was the most epic for me.

MK II. i was so hype for that game. Playing it now is just funny but back then
I thought it was the shit

I was playing a imported cvs2 like a month before my arcade got it :shake:

When i was a kid, i remember being hella hyped for mortal kombat 3. Seemed like it would never come out after i preordered it.

MvC2 was also the shit, was a plus i only had to wait like a month till i got to go into training mode :lovin:

I’ve never been hype for game releases like I am for all the upcoming games.

STHD, SF4, TvC, BlazBlue, KoF XII, Melty Blood AA (Eventually)

Maybe I’m not old-school enough but I am way more excited for these than I’ve been for any other game.

the rumble fish 2

… then it never came  :shake:

I. SF3: W Impact (Dreamcast, 1999)
Due to the limitations of the 32-bit systems, SF3 took three years to come home.

II. SF2: WW (SNES, 1992)
One of my most appreciated Christmas presents of all time.

III. KOF '98 (PSX, 1999)
The first KOF game that I had not played the arcade version of.

Current wishlist:

I. Daemon Bride
II. BlazBlue
III. Su-goi! Arcana Heart 2

this.

VF2, MvC2 and TTT were the games I actually waited to hit console when I was younger, and got the most excited for. If VF5R gets a console release, that will be my ultimate, most anticipated console release to date though.

SF4 is pretty damn high up on that list for anticipation too, only second to VF5R.

Tekken 3. Actually being able to get up off the ground in a reasonable amount of time + Eddy had me excited.

No homo

SF2:WW (SNES) -
Even the hideous cover that didn’t even use the right goddamn logo didn’t matter, I remember my exact words the day I got it, “I’ll never get bored of this game.” Easily the winner for me.

Killer Instinct (SNES) -
The first time I’d played a fighter with a training mode. No more having to put up with annoying breaks in 2P mode!

SF: Alpha 1 (PS)
I’m sure someone will correct me but for me this was the first truly arcade perfect port, if for nothing else than the graphics and sound. Never did understand why they changed the design of the super meters though…

Hokuto No Ken (PS2)
I played HnK 5 quite a lot on the SNES mainly because it was, well, HnK but also because it was quite fun to play. After seeing the japanese vids I couldn’t wait to learn the mechanics of this game and get down the wallbounces, dribbles and all the other crazy shit.

Streetfighter IV and BlazBlue.

What, no older games? Nope, because you can hardly be excited for games you didn’t even know a port was coming. I wasn’t even aware of the xistence of Streetfighter II until I played it on the SNES. And I am not sure for how long I was unaware that those games didn’t simply come out for consoles but were actually ports.

Oh, I know: Killer Instinct 2. I was so exited for it to come to the N64… and then the version I got felt (okay, it was) severly downspecced from the Arcade version. The out of arena finishers looked so bland in comparison

Hokuto no Ken for me. I never got seriously into the game, though.

Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition for the Genesis, followed by Guilty Gear X for the DC, followed by Virtua Fighter 4 and VF4Evo for PS2.

and im still waiting :shake:

right now, KOF XII and BlazBlue, specially BlazBlue

Sf IV

SF2:WW (SNES): It was the first really moment of my life that i feel the game was “an Arcade experience in my home”.

MK2 (SNES). Oh come on guys! if you dont were hyped in those years with MK2 you dont have childhood, i was 10 when the game was released and its still an awesome “arcade port” for SNES.

Killer Instinct (SNES): The same as MK2.

Killer Instinct Gold (N64): It was disappointed… but i was very hyped.

X-Men vs Street Fighter (Saturn): It was a dream come true for me, i was a Nintendo fanboy very sad of the lack of fighting games on the N64 so Saturn was an instant fighting-machine for me, this port is still awesome.

Soul Edge (PSX): Just sold when i saw the OP (still one of the best ever in a videogame)… and the game was great in those years, now is extremelly slow…

Soul Calibur: Nuff said… it was the game that sold the DC to many people.

Now im not really too “EXTREME HYPED” with videogames anymore.

Easily Street Fighter II on the SNES. I got it and an SNES for Christmas one year and I remember reading all the GamePro strategy guides and going to the arcade in anticipation. I managed to find where my folks hid the presents that year (they didn’t even TRY that year, it wasn’t hard) and would look at the box and read the write-up on the back. I spent SO much time playing that game it’s not funny!

SF2 Turbo was another one.

Honorable Mention goes to MK1. They did so much great promo for the release of that game that even though I knew the SNES version didn’t have any blood, I still wanted it. I wound up renting it from the local video store and loved it so much, that I returned my copy of Final Fight in the case instead of MK1.

Street Fighter Alpha 2 - SNES
Yes the SNES port. I was far too poor back in the day to have a Playstation and I played the shit out of this game. I remember going mad because I couldn’t do a Raging Demon, only to read in a magazine a few months later that it was wrong in the manual!

Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha - Playstation
Read everything I could about this game before it was released and when I finally got it on Christmas morning, it didn’t disappoint. I absolutely loved this game and still do.

Virtua Fighter 2 - Saturn
My friends all thought Tekken was better. This proved them wrong.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection - PSP
I still can’t believe how good of a port this is.

If VF5R comes out I’ll probably riot.
