I have an Samsung LCD 32’ tv (720p) that I bought about 2 years ago. The difference in quality compared to the arcade cabinets for SSIV is noticeably significant.
Wondering what kind of tv’s the arcade cabinets use? Are they even LCD, or are these plasma tvs?
old cabinets use CRT monitors that display at either CGA, EGA or VGA (some can do 2 or all 3). Meanwhile newer cabinets use commerical grade LCD monitors rated VGA to higher (720p).
You can find some of these at Happ but don’t expect them to come cheap though.
There are also some cabinets that take large plasma screen monitors. But I don’t know too much about those.
cabs that use 32’s generally don’t use an HDTV, but rather commercial displays or digital signage
those displays don’t have the shitty upscaling like HDTV’s do
Wells Gardner Electronics Corporation
Best in digital displays in the industry, but they are not cheap.
Although the discontinued there CRT line of Monitors, many of their LCD Monitors can be used as drop in replacements in many classic arcade cabs
They do sell repair kits/ parts for many of their older model monitors
Can you just buy one of those LCDs, mount it to a wall and hook it up to an xbox via vga?
Wells Gardner Monitors? They they accept VGA input. You might want a enclosure for the monitor tho because the are without one because they are made Arcade cabs and industrial applications
