parried fireballs do 25 (remy)-100% damage (except air fireballs). They’re already neutered enough thanks to being superable during recovery , shit damage and slow startup.
I like the idea of remixed games becuase even though I like a game there is always some thing retarded about it that could use a fix and also becuase I started playing fighting games in 04 so I missed out on alot of these old school games, so giving them a second chance with online play is great IMO.
Here’s a thought though, HD CFJ? I mean the graphics were the main problem with the game right?
Jesus:HDR.
Not by a long shot.
The Mullah is dead-on regarding fireballs in 3S.
UltraDavid is right, in that they ought to build more meter for the thrower.
But build more meter when parried?
Hell, whenever they’re parried it ought to *cost *the parrier meter.
And they should cause more damage to boot - so they’re seen as an actual threat of themselves.
I totally agree with Sirlin regarding A2.
Get on it, sir! :woot:
^I think that idea fits better with 3S than having fireballs always do damage. Actually, screw it, all parries should cost meter; parrying normals should cost the amount of meter built by a landed normal, parrying non-projectile specials should cost the amount of meter built by a landed special, parrying projectiles should cost half of what an ex costs, and parrying Necro’s far limbs should count as parrying a projectile.
^I think that is one of the best ideas for balancing 3S ever.
I’m all for CC nerfage in A2… but no A2G c.forward nerf on Chun, plz.
(I’d still play Rose over her.)
Actually yeah, that does sound like a good idea lol.
Yeah, I’m down with projectiles doing more damage. So for general changes to 3S, then:
–parry input window is reduced by just a couple frames (so you have to be more precise and can’t fish as much)
–the window in between parry attempts is a few frames larger (so you can’t fish for parries quite as much)
–anytime you parry a move, whatever attack or combo (but not throw) you do after gets its damage reduced by 50% (so that the advantage gained from parrying is less and the advantage for the guy on offense isn’t as reduced as it is in 3S)
–parry stun time is reduced by a significant amount, but is still longer than it was in CvS2
–standing jabs/shorts that look like they shouldn’t be parried low have to be parried high
–parrying normals costs the amount of meter built by a landed normal
–parrying non-projectile specials costs the amount of meter built by a landed special
–parrying projectiles costs half of what an ex costs
–projectiles build more meter when thrown and parried, do more damage
–Necro’s far limbs counts as projectiles for the purposes of these changes (ie do more damage, build more meter, and cost more meter to parry)
–No more crouch teching throws
ground fireballs would still be crap i rekon, they need to do damage when parried, unless you think that would mke fireballs too good? it’s not like fireball traps would be as good as in sf2.
Nah, I don’t think it would make fireballs too good at all, I just don’t think it would fit Street Fighter III that well. An important part of the game is that you have the tools to escape just about any situation, and if fireballs always did some damage, that would be gone.
Edit: added no crouch teching throws
Fuck you caught me. I think all the new games suck, but having 50 million remixes of games just get dumb. Everyone should just play FHD.
This.
But if I had to pick, SF1 re-imagined would be ill
p.s. Can I get my new VS/Darkstalkers game to complete capcoms reign of terror??
Kthanx
let’s face it it’s gonna be marvel
Yeah good point. Wait no, the opposite of that. Why’s it gonna be marvel?
SF(1) should be remade. They could even throw in a few characters like Haggar, w/o really effecting the story.
Final Fight with 3 player mode and some other random extras, because of how cost effective it sounds (they could even just recode the whole thing…).
As for SF games I’d go with SFA2.
SF1 would be fun but only if it was a complete remake, just a single player game otherwise (Ryu/Ken matches don’t count anymore), and that’d be too much of a task.
Toss-up between 3s and A3 for me. Even though A2 is a bit more fair, A3 just has more people, and alot of people like games where they have a huge roster to pick from. 3s would need some tweaking with Yun/Chun.
Thats what I was reffering too, a complete remake where the whole roster plus more/new characters are playable.
If SF had been remade in place of SF4, with the same game mechanics… I think it would have been just as popular, if not more so. As Long as Ryu and Ken are in it, heh.
IMO, I don’t think any game 1996 and beyond need to be remade. We’re talking dirt old here. I would love a samurai showdown 2 remake/HD. I know…not capcom.
Really you dont think the alpha sprites are out-dated? They look nice on the psp screen but not in big screens.
it certainly looks great on the psp screen but of course on any other screen with higher resolution it still looks too blocky.
there are a bunch of sf, samsho, etc. sprites that have been remade into “HD” on my hi-def sprite thread in my sig. if you ever wondered what certain characters would look like if they gave them the same HD treatment as SSF2T:HDR, you can check that thread out (shameless plugging)
ooh, crouch teching is horrid! i wish it wasn’t in IV.
Taking damage from fireballs doesn’t mean you can’t escape. Aside ex fireballs, you can almost always parry x super/ex move a fireball if they’re within half screen. That makes throwing fireballs a bad idea even if they do damage on parry unless they’re meaty, which isn’t very often with quick recovery.
I just find the lack of a fireball game in 3s very boring and it would take a major cut in startup and recovery frames or damage on parry for them to be useful in any way outside of combo finishers.
