Depends on your PC that makes TE work or not.
Get HRAP.
Only certain older PS3 models of the TE do not work on the PC.
Also, in terms of future customization, it’s easier for the TE as well.
I already mentioned that I will not get the the TE sticks no matter what so my only choices are the Q2 and HRAP V3 SA. And I’m really stumped on the decision between the two. I really like the design and build of the Q2 but I don’t see a review of it only Q3 and Q4 so I’m very hesitant. I really like Hori and their products but I don’t like the design of the V3 SA and the fact that it is very light.
Well… I bought the HRAP V3 SA. As much as I like the design of the Q2; it just came down to the fact that I love Hori. As with the weight problem, I will see if it will bother me or not (I did use a Fighting Stick 3 for a long time).
If you’re not getting them at least don’t get them for the wrong reasons, especially since they are considered among the best off the shelf sticks ever made.
I know. I’m not bashing the stick its just personal issues. It’s just that if you see my scar which I still have; you will know what I mean. The TE stick IS great and I think that it’s better than the HRAP V3 SA; the problem is just with me.
Lol I just realized it sounded like I was explaining about a relationship with a girlfriend. :looney:
If the stick has 8-buttons, does that mean the girlfriend has a…
You are really pissed arnt you. :wonder:
no no no its an inside joke in tech talk
Spoiler
8 buttons is dick
ahhh. I thought I was being an unwilling troll. Thats good to know
So this is my first post and was wondering if you guys could help me out. I’ve been playing fighting games for a while and I cannot stand the xbox pad anymore. Perfect timing too because I won 100 dollars to amazon in a contest. So what is the best beginner stick I can buy on amazon? I’ve seen the Hori fighting stick VX for 70, HRAP VX for 140, and all the TE’s are way too overpriced lol. I’ve been thinking the VX is a good start but I’m worried about the Hori parts. I don’t really want to buy a stick and then immediately mod it since i’m just starting out and have no idea what i’m doing.
Thanks in advance.
What I personally recommend is to just plunk down an extra $40.00 and get the HRAP VX-SA. A lot of people start out with a “entry level stick” such as the old Hori EX2 or the Hori Fighting Stick 3, but it ends up being a lot more trouble than its worth later on to mod it with real parts. Supposedly, the Hori VX has been getting fairly good reviews and many people have claimed that it’s a step above the sticks of old. Honestly though, if I were you, I’d just plunk down the extra $40.00 and get the VX-SA. You’ll save yourself a lot of modding trouble later, especially if you haven’t done it before, and you’ll get high quality parts from the get-go. Nothing really to lose here. It’d cost you about $70.00 anyway to mod the Hori VX with Sanwa parts regardless, so may as well get them from the beginning, right?
$140 - $160 for quality arcade sticks with full Sanwa/Seimitsu parts is just about right (pay more for licensed art). In fact, that’s cheap compared to some of the customs being built here.
Take this from a guy that have spent years playing a Hori Stick with mass produced Hori parts… It sucks. The button will die on you even if you take good care of it. Mine died which is why I recently ordered the HRAP V3 SA for my PS3. I played with my friend who owned a custom stick with Sanwas parts and the difference is huge. The low end stick is not worth it.
I have a quick question about the Hori Fighting Commander 3 Pro. Just to clarify, the R1 and R2 that are in the front are also duplicated to the shoulder buttons, correct? I’m essentially looking to have this setup, can anyone confirm that it’s possible?
square - jab
triangle - strong
R1 - fierce
R2 - 3x punch
x - short
circle - forward
L1 - roundhouse
L2 - 3x kick
Essentially, I’m looking for a PS3 controller with better d-pad and non-mushy shoulder buttons. Is this my best bet? Thanks!
For the FC3 Pro, it’s designed so that you can “claw” the controller - hold it so that your index, middle and ring fingers are on the face.
Basically then set up so that you have.
square - jab
triangle - strong
R1 - fierce
x - short
circle - forward
R2 - roundhouse
Yeah, I can’t seem to get used to holding the controller like that. I went from SNES > PS2 > PS3 with most of my fighting game experience on those consoles, so it’s so hard to reprogram myself. lol. My hands are stubborn. I was just wondering if it was possible at all to have that setup above.
Does the FCP3 Pro turn on the console through the controller? I have a PDP Versus pad and noticed it cannot. Not that it’s a big deal, just wondering. Thanks.
Can’t you just Button Configuration in the game?
The only Controllers that can turn on PlayStation 3 are the Wireless.
PlayStation 3 does not have power through USB when console is off.
Ah, thanks, didn’t realize that about the USB power.
As for button config, that’s what I was just trying to verify. I didn’t really understand the L/R shoulder buttons, and the L-R switch. When I was searching on google for initial reviews, someone complained about something about not being able to map certain buttons in a certain way because of the way the face/shoulder buttons are set up. But now that I’m more serious about buying the controller, I cannot seem to find that review anywhere and just wasn’t sure.
