What Stick/Controller Should I Buy? Read the Guide on Pg 1 Before Posting

The Cthulhu with two RIGHT is cool!
Laugh.

I think Phreakazoid187 got a bad batch of Chips. Toodles had similar issues once, but lucky for him he caught the bad batch before they ever left his shop.
Which explains the shortage of ChImps for a while.

just wanted to say thanks for this thread, i was looking for a fightstick on a budget for my xbox and didnt know what to get, but i just got the wwe brawlstick, i picked it up for $60 at ebgames and it feels great, eventually ill mod it but for now its great

thanks again

You are welcomed.

Hmmm, I`ve a quite normal outage of Dual Strike V2 by 2-5% which is based on several reason like

  • some lost eeprom config, so a rewrite of firmware or configuration helps here.
  • some dead mcu rarely.
  • bad dual mod attempts.

Most of the dead mcu`s was located in one batch from my supplier, so I changed the supplier.
Dual Strike v2 PCB have sockets for the MCU, so a replacement is no problem.

@jdm : Anyway 11 pcs dual strike SMD boards in row with malfunction have some other issue like a bad batch of mcu or some wrong delivery from the supplier.

I have a Madcatz TE fight stick and a pair of Madcatz fight pads.

I love em’ both. I also have a PDP fight pad that I rarely use.

Nice. I am liking that green TE especially.

Thanks, I went for the green xbox theme. Others call it the Gamma Green Hulk edition.

I wonder should I expand the list, as all I haven’t hit on are specialty Arcade sticks

Hi Everyone,

Looking to pick up a new FightStick for PS3 and have been debating between the MvC3 TE from MadCatz (currently in stock for $159.99) or waiting for the TE S to come back in stock ($149.99 when available). Do you all think I should wait or is the MvC3 TE stick just as good in terms of performance? Since it has the older PCB, I’m just wondering whether it’s worth it to wait for the newer model or not.

Thanks,
Matt

go with the MVC3 stick, they are individually numbered and will be way more rare than the TE S, so if you ever decide to get rid of it you could sale it easily.

Functionality wise, they are equivalent. There is a rare problem of the triggers dying in the older version 360 PCB, but it’s seemed to occur less on TE-S. But you have PS3, so that doesn’t happen so much. The TE-S also supports the lockswitch locking Start and Select, while MvC3 TE does not. Other than that, it’s pretty much two all-sanwa sticks, both of great quality and moddability.

But if you plan on playing on PC at all, I’d try to get the Chun Li TE or an HRAP V3-SA, as they work with all PCs, while the other TEs are picky.

Thanks, ThisIsMessatsu and Nerrage! I’m going to order the MvC3 stick today! I don’t plan on really playing on PC. I may dual mod the stick at some point down the line, but since I play at home and with friends on PS3, I’m not in any kind of rush.

OK, from what I understand, this is a new stick: http://stores.shophoriusa.com/-strse-122/Xbox-360-Fighting-Stick/Detail.bok

So far I haven’t really found any information on this one so I assume it is. Has anyone gotten any hands on time with this dude? It looks better than any stick I’ve seen in this price range just on looks alone (admittedly that’s a shallow observation), and it’s perfect for my budget. If this is a good quality stick with any modding potential whatsoever I’d really like to get it. Thoughts?

It came out last year for Japan.
It came out just now for US.

Thanks man! Sinking my teeth into that thread, I appreciate the help.

People please note:
Do not rely on the current arcade stick pricing on Amazon dot com.
Almost every single arcade stick on that site is grossly over priced and way over the actual market price.
This is a result of greedy ass individual sellers who do business on Amazon who still think there demand is high from Evo.

Try Fry’s Electronics, Game Stop, eBay and any other actually trustworthy stores before thinking about amazon.
Yes I place eBay as a more trustworthy and reliable site than Amazon. At the moment I might consider 4Chan more reliable than Amazon.

Strangely enough, Hori RAP VX SA is between 129 and 139 $ on Amazon…

All Madcatz sticks are over priced to the heaven… I saw some at 350 $…

The Hori V3, VX, VLX and Mad Catz TvC sticks are the only sticks seems to be reasonably priced.

No way should a Hrap-EX for the 360 be priced at $250, for $50 more I could get a VLX.

Greetings, comrades. I am looking to purchase a fight stick this weekend when I get paid, but unfortunately I am on a budget due to my 3rd semester at college starting next week. I’ve been researching on this site as well as others, and I’ve found these two fight sticks that I must choose between purchasing: the WWE Brawl Stick and the Tekken 6 limited edition wireless stick (the 360 version of each). I’ve heard some negative things about both sticks that come with being budget priced, such as weird lag/registry errors on the T6 and over-sensitive buttons and non-diagonal-input-reading on the Brawl stick. However, I’ve also heard benefits unique to both sticks, as they say the Brawl stick is easy to mod, and the T6 stick has better quality buttons and stick for the price (though I suppose the T6 factoid would be a matter of opinion.) I’ve also heard the PS3 T6 stick is less reliable than the 360, and that most of the T6’s complaints were disregarded for the 360 version. Which stick would you guys suggest would be the better starter stick? They’re about the same price where I live so I’ll take your suggestions into heavy consideration.
