You need to learn how to control the space by stopping your opponent from taking the momentum and watch them carefully. I usually sit back and watch my opponent’s habits carefully before I rush in so recklessly. Once you really get in you should get some pressure down on them with pokes and cancels into lightning legs or dash lightning legs. Mix it up with some tick throws, overheads and frame traps.
Thanks guys, i think im struggling with reacting to jumping oponents. it why when i play 1500pp+ guys i usually fair better oddly. but the scrubby jumpy upercut guys im just having real problems with.
i need to work on using st. mk as an AA instead of st.hp i guess as its faster and can eb timed a little easier. but then its crossups. im sooo bad at blocking them. same with teching, whenever i tech even against poor played who dont know what frame traps are, i still get hit whenever try to tech (i dont mash it of course)
i dont know. i guess i just need to keep playing. i know points dont matter, but having 3kbp and only 700pp really bother me. i really want to be a good player, not an online casual masher. (i know i should play endless more, but its so hard to find a match where i am compared to rank. and when i do i go against 3500k pp players who dont give me space to breathe.)
Don’t forget c. mp as an anti-air as well. focus or focus dash/backdash in certain situations too.
You’ll definitely get used to it and learn more about specific anti-airs in time.
thanks
i had a good session tonight, won about 8 in a row once i calmed down. what helped was focus back dashing and also forward dashing under jumps. instead of trying to AA because i simply cant react fast enough yet. so manouvering back and under jumps really allowed me to punish jump ins with grabs and combos.
also i made a concerted effort to read the opponent at every point. really think about how they play while i am zoning with fireballs. so i can presume what i will be able to get away with. this might be the key to getting me up and over these lower calibre players, as they are all quite predictable.
ill always have trouble with people who go crazy (esp as sagat or seth for example) but focusing on what they do while i block and defend like mad, then attacking in ways i think i can get away with really helped me do great tonight.
im just worried i will always lack the reactions to ever be good at this game, no matter how much i play. but i guess time will only tell that.
PS: (not that i advise this for anyone else, but listening to Joanna Newsom with the game sound on low really helped me enjoy my session no matter which way it was going. probably helped me not panic too (my last win against a 1200pp yang came down to my last pixel and i just blocked while silently cursing. somehow i managed to finish it with a full extended mk legs combo linked into EX legs. and yes, im giving full credit to Joanna ;))
