That was the first thing I thought, until I noticed the original post was from 2004. Come to think of it, you could add Spiderman to this category as well. “One for J.J.”
I’ve never understood this idea of putting ordinary people/players in a video game. The whole point is to immerse yourself and be someone else, unless it’s a puzzle game or something.
Also, if I would be in a fighting game, it would suck, because I definitely can’t compare to all the fighting game characters that came before me. You could give me special powers, but then it wouldn’t be me.
On topic, I really don’t think there’s much left now. We’ve had photographers, chefs, doctors, dogs, cats, robots, gods, pretty much every fighting style imaginable… All that’s left now is obscure jobs, like exterminators, or dolphin trainers or something and even some of those are already partly represented in Guilty Gear.
Has there ever been a fighting game character that was like a star, or a planet or something?
