If I have a two+ life bar lead on their last 3/4 life character, I switch out to my assist. I get less rage mail that way and less rage quits.

lmao, no message afterwards, but some funny shit. I’ve never really been the man at Marvel–whooped my friend’s asses at arcades, but that doesn’t count for much–so I’ve been going on LIVE and trying to get the hang of it.
I’ve been sticking to the team of Jill, Storm and Psylocke lately. Jill and Psylocke for no particular reason other than that I feel comfortable with them, Storm I use mainly because I find her assist useful and because she’s a good character in general. Really, though, I can’t play with Storm for shit.
Basically, throughout the entire time I’m playing I rush down with Jill while using Storm’s assist for cover. One guy said “you really like that storm assist, huh?” to which I admitted that I can’t even use Storm properly, and if they killed her there’s a good chance I’d be fucked. It’s not even hot shit.
Afterwards, this other guy in the lobby starts raging hard during a match yelling “How about you play without MASHING THE FUCKING ASSIST BUTTON!!!@wwad” etc., to which I *naturally *responded “u mad?” and another guy dares me to NOT pick storm. So, just to fuck with them, I pick Magneto on projectile just to spam shit at them for cover and they’re all “OH GREAT, HE GOES FROM FAGGOT A TO FAGGOT B”. Unfortunately it seems the connection dropped before the match started (or maybe a ragequit?), and I don’t even recall who I was playing or who was talking.
Pretty sad, I barely even have a strategy to my assist usage, I just use them for cover and to confuse them with cross-ups, and rather than stop my corny assault they’d rather bitch and dare me to switch people…:lame:

Asists seems to be the main gripe. My Tron assist lcokdown made three people turn the 360’s off today.
I can’t believe how much people are complaining about assists, still! When this game first came out I lived in a relatively small city in Florida. I played MVC2 all the time at the arcade (in the mall :wtf: ) and on the DC. There was no real comp. down here, so I pretty much sucked. Then in late 2000 I moved to Orlando. Bigger city, more/better arcades, a lot more comp. with people that were actually good at the game. So naturally I got better at Marvel. So every time I would go back to the arcade in my home town I would destroy everyone there. People would get SO pissed because I was using assists. They weren’t complaining that I was spamming the assists. They were just mad that I was just using them in general. This one big, fat, goth, POS troggle would always say “he’s just using assists because he watches videos online of people playing in tournaments so he thinks that’s how you play the game.” Then one day this guy that worked at the arcade (he played Marvel when he wasn’t working) told me he was going to disconnect the assists buttons if I didn’t stop being so “cheap”. I just looked him straight in the eye, laughed as hard as I could, and continued with the beasting! Are Tilts even around anymore?
I think everybody that plays casually is getting pissed with the assists. I don’t know how many times I’ve beaten people where my assist character is knocking them out of a super and they’re flipping out.
