I’ve had some outright epic matches where I felt the need to msg the other player and congratulate, and I get plenty of positives in return. Good to know there are plenty of sporting players out there.
Though I have to say I get annoyed w/disconnectors. They really should lose BP for that.
Is I lost my connection the new rage quit I don’t understand how that happened where I beat somebody and as the slow motion to them falling on the ground lost connection comes up then I message some smart ass comment and they say my computer connection cut out… Is this bullshit or is this legitimate… I have played a ton of online matches and never has it ever mysteriously cut out the connection as I was losing…

Unless I am a lot better than the other guy, the first round is all about trying to feel out the other player, their skill level strategy, etc…
Its pretty common for me, when I am playing someone of similar skill, to lose the first round and then win the match.
Bottom line if you aren’t getting hate mail you aren’t playing right.

I think a ragequit with hatemail is more satisfying than some lousy 30-under battlepoints but
dont get it twisted tho when we talkin 75-100 battle points then its another ball game ima be mad as hell lol.
I can kinda estimate how many points a players worth by how there playing.
I never really get anything, i usually send out a GG if the fight was worth it
I think it depends on the situation. I played a guy a while back where I beat him pretty convincingly in the first round, an he was making a comeback in the second round before it cut out (while he was doing a move).
I messaged him with “you quit?” and he responded with “why would I quit when I was making a comeback?” I could see that as legit.
Also, I once tried playing DOA4 online during a thunderstorm and lighting struck, knocking the power out. That is my one and only disconnect in that game. I have to say, for all the shit DOA gets, I liked the fact that the online stats that were viewable per player showed the # of disconnects.
I beat some Akuma the other day, playing as Abel in the alternate Costume. He hit’s me up with “that costume&combo are so gay _” after the match.

I’m an average player, so I take plenty of licks; but what possessed you to come to this thread and post something guaranteed to get you flamed?
Overhead the whole round: Backwards Dash or Jump early before he does the kick, he will land either right below you or right infront of you. Destroy him.
Normal Fireball Spam: Jump, over, them. End.
Akuma Air fireball: Dash under it, maul him when he comes down. Most character can easily punish this idiocy.
Gouken: Jump over the first one forward, stop dashing at him. wait for him to fire a bad one and destroy him.

Ditto. If I get spanked by someone…there’s a reason why. I could try bitch about someone wiping the floor with me using some good tactics that I didn’t know about and make myself look like a petty asshole, or I could just say thanks for the matches, figure out why I lost and try and move on. I try and make friends with those who beat the piss out of me in hopes I can play them more frequently and up my game, so I give those dudes props. In fact if I’m just playing Player Matches, I generally boot someone I beat pretty easily since it does me no good to keep playing them. Padding my ego won’t make me better.
It would be one thing if someone who wins would send ME a message rubbing it in my face, but I’ve never seen it or heard of it happening so far.

i main abel and always use his alt costume and one time this guy on a mic kept saying “wtf is that costume? you must be gay… are you a fairy or something??”… when he lost the first 2 of best of 5 he was like “FUCK I CANT CONCENTRATE BECAUSE OF THAT FAIRY COSTUME!!! _(#$)@#($”

just played the biggest crybaby so far. loofy chavez i believe his name was. he’s on the mic the whole time saying shit like, “bet if you don’t flash kick you couldn’t win, asshole”…“why do you have to throw? you can’t play like you’re supposed too?”…"you’re the cheapest ******!!!).
i think the end result was like me: 17 games, him:4. it was funny to hear him talk about guile being high tier all the while he’s using sagat and akuma. after he left i sent him a message saying “cry harder QQ”. i’m crossing my fingers that that will bait him into writing me a rageful message. wish me luck…
