IMHO, it all comes down to what’s fun for each individual player. I hate to say it, but if scrubs have fun spamming shoryukens and gibbering froth-lipped into their headsets, well… who are we to criticize?
The only problem is that they should have their own network to do it on… :lol: :rolleyes:
For many of us, we’re having fun even when we want to throw our controller through the TV screen because that @#&*$#ing spamming scrub is still beating us–the fun comes from learning and improving. It’s like a sliding scale, with “Winning is fun” on one side and “Learning is fun, too,” on the other. I know that’s a fruity metaphor, but I believe it.

Ah a golden one here. From GodXXOfXXSnipers, my dan vs his runaway scrub Akuma. Was back and forth but he won the first game, totally owned him the second game getting Dizzies in both rounds. EXACT PLAY STYLE. Jump back airfireball, land red fireball. He ragequit by booting me out of the room and I sent him a “lol u mad?” Got a text message saying “Whatever man I beat you once.” Replied back saying if he wants a rematch, only to get the most STUPIDEST voice message saying why he lost…
“Dude man I just gave it to my sister, I had to make a sandwich really bad so that’s why you killed my Akuma so fast.” Think he ended up ignoring me since I tried to invite him a couple more times to play.
I haven’t gotten any hate mail yet, and I don’t plan to send any. If I lose to a scrub or someone “cheap” I get mad at myself for walking into his tactics over and over. And if I play someone who’s genuinely good, well I try my best but have fun watching and observing how this person plays.
I fought a really good Akuma with Ken, I had NO hope of winning, the guy was zoning rather well and I was hard pressed to find an opening. Was I mad? No, I actually sent him a response congratulating him on his technique. Hell I sure learned alot from that fight to.

I’m a n00b myself and I’m learning Sagat because I suck with the d-pad and can’t play my beloved C. Viper. I do not spam TS or TU all the time and mostly think what I’m doing so it’s very easy for me to punish j.HK/c.HK/hadouken/shoruyken abusers… which are the majority of the Ken/Ryu/Akuma players I encounter. So it’s me who msg people for NOT using the aforementioned chars. Until I got a “Sagat’s cheap, u is cheaterz”
I got a lot of people giving me props on my skills, they also ask for tips but I just redirect them to SRK :tup:

I agree with this. It’s better to encourage people to learn the game and get better at it at their own pace.
I’ve had no trash talk messages yet. I never hear from ranked people. I started hosting player matches and never looked back. My Vega actually got kudos last night. He said I was the best he had seen online. Not that there are many Vegas out there.
I’d rather lose all day to a chill opponent than play one round with a raging idiot. Battle Points be damned.

This thread has made me want hate mail. Tonight I will win a few games with nothing but tick grabs, kara grabs, random fucking “Dont get grabbed or you suck” grabs. I will probably lose ALOT, but I am itching to get some hate mail.
Just ran into one of those people that set the rounds to 1 rd 30 secs. His name was Mr V R E E and lucky for me i noticed it right away and hit him to about half life (dude SUCKED) and ran away for the rest of the fight. Just as the timer hit about 3 seconds he disconnects so i send him “Looks like your little 30 sec rd trick didn’t work out so much for you this time, take a loss like a man next time”
