I feel you man, I forgot about the part where his wife and kid died. I think having to kill sam was more prolonged and just filmed with emotion. Where as his family dying in the helicopter was just sudden. Also the ending of the Mist. That was heartbreaking.

Because they couldn’t see any way out. Either kill themselves or die out there. The fact that they would have been rescued is what made it so sad. Watch the whole movie and you will see what I am sayin.

not much makes me cry
but there are two things

For those who have read kite runner, [details=Spoiler]when the main character’s dad is dying. That is a very emotional part of a very emotional book. Obviously made me think of me and my own dad, who is one of my best pals. I don’t know what i’d do without him.[/details]

I don’t know if ppl are aware but there is this one youtube channel that documents a guy who found a kitty whose back legs were paralyzed and he took him in and took care of them. there are a bunch of great videos of this awesome guy and his wonderful paralyzed kitty, but the story becomes really sad when the kitty has to get put down at about 5 yo. someone made a montage video of the guy and his kitty and when it shows the kitty romping around with his kitty wheel chair i completely broke down. I love animals and especially cats, and i don’t think the guy made another video about his other cats (he had several but i think this little guy stole his heart), so i can only imagine how his heart must have been totally broken. Shit i bawled… it was bad lol.
Classical music.
That’s the only medium of art that can make me feel sad, not all classical music, but certain pieces.

Public restrooms…when I have to go really badly.
The public restrooms in Europe, pardon the pun, shit on American restrooms. First, no shitty stalls. Each toilet is in a private room. Second, very clean and great ventilation. The one issue I have with them is many are pay toilets. When I gotta go the last thing I wanna do is fish around for euros.
The thing though, is that the DBZ dub (particularly the Cartoon Network dub) is a great example of people either not having an appreciation for the use of silence/quiet moments or a pregnant pause, and assuming the audience couldn’t appreciate it, either. The original version of the same scene was quieter, but it allowed for tension to build. Also, some of the new dialogue added in the dub is just…meh.

As far as manly anime tears, or at least to extent that such a thing exists: the scene towards the end of the Toguro/Dark Tournament arc in Yuyu Hakusho, where [details=Spoiler]Genkai dies[/details] I didn’t cry or anything, but they did a good job making you feel Yusuke’s misery.
SRK makes me sad.
Oh dear god this, a million times this. There are multiple scenes in that series that just kill ya. OVA too.

The main character’s cancer-diagnosed mother dies from her wounds from battle, but you’ll have to see the whole movie to understand how she didn’t goes down without a fight. Reminds me of how my mother’s health isn’t doing too well. I’d be completely distraught without her. Sure in the end, the main character’s father comes back a bit before the finale and takes care of her, but then there’s my father. I don’t mean to compare my life to a movie, but you know…

Seriously. Like the part with the dad and his daughter, and he walks away carrying her with the bomb inside her…fuck.

You should read the manga, it’s VERY different from the show after a certain point,and it’s several times longer.
I’ve heard. I heard the ending was a lot different as well.
