I have no idea why some of you are still trying, when not_Anime has you beat on every move.
Checkmate is unavoidable.

All hail Not_Anime.
By ânumerous,â or âextra,â I meant gauges that arenât intuitive upon first glance, and there being more going on with the HUD than most fighting games Western audiences gravitate toward. The average fan or passerby knows of health bars and super/stun meters, which are almost always across the board concerning rosters of applicable games, mind. Many an âanime fighterâ employ gauges that are both esoteric to the casual observer and specific to a handful of characters.
â~4â means, â4, give or take.â
You shot yourself in the foot there with that 6-button âcounter-argumentâ that had no basis for its inference to begin with.
You canât apply egregious examples like Desk to substantiate your point, attempting to pass off his feats as status quo. Same applies to anyone else with insane execution to a lesser extent. An overwhelming majority of these so-called âanime fightersâ are combo-heavy by design; itâs a bullet point.
And UMvC3? Your point?
You canât cherry-pick a certain aspect to discredit the next guy, straw man. Youâre only managing to implicate yourself, lacking comprehension, willing or otherwise, by asserting that I had the stance of, âIf it has a single aspect of x, then x.â
'Twas never the case, friend. Thereâs no âone-drop ruleâ to this. Theyâre required, at the very least, to possess a combination of a few of the aforementioned traits to be acknowledged as an âanime fighter.â
Calling out your attacks dates back to SFII: WW, and perhaps earlier, I wouldnât doubt. At any rate, you canât compare that to the oft-interrupted-by-the-following-string-of-words sentences that are known to saturate the perceived sub-genre in question.
SFII Sagat was notorious for âTiger, Tiger!â though it wasnât in the same league as the nonstop chatting that ensues in every round of a lot of said âanime fighters.â
â1st Clause. DIVIDE.â
General quirkiness in small details. If an Air Force officer getting the âStinkfaceâ is your idea of whimsical flourish, thenâ
Your mess.jpg? Anytime, broheim.
Youâre pretty quick to discredit and pass off certain things as if it somehow doesnât apply to the other games in the same exact way or ignore the point entirely.
Which is probably why this thread exists in the first place.
why are you even taking the argument seriously? they always devolve into either bitching about popularity of games, Capcom fans being delusional, and anime fans being babies.
Hereâs a hint.
[details=Spoiler]Thereâs no such thing as a definition of âanime fighters,â (at least not in the way this thread wants to use teh term), if you think that there is or that there needs to be, then hereâs another hint.
Youâre exactly whatâs wrong with the FGC in 2013.[/details]
If you hadnât noticed, I never endorsed the term itself, hence the quotation marks and stance of neutrality on the matter. Iâm for people referring to a niche of a niche however theyâd prefer to.
Amicably reaching a consensus isnât likely. Cool. Moral of the story was, the ones for and against the term both know what itâs meant to cover, regardless of how asinine or âwrongâ it might be.
For the record, I stated âworking definition,â which is more or less an antithesis to âdefinition.â
Itâs time to have a 5 page debate on if Fight Night is a fightan gaem or not. Lets add the WWE games in there while weâre at it!
In Japan, Capcom has a patent on the use of 6 buttons in arcade games. Thatâs why every other game uses 5 or less.
BONUS: In the USA, they have patent on 4 buttons + 2 assists control scheme.
Earth, where you could patent the way you pee.
Whatâs the patent number?
I think itâs obvious that anime fighters are NOT SF4, Tekken, and sometimes Marvel 3 (only sometimes).

Yep.
That means that the aesthetics are anime, and thus that means the game will automatically have long combos, airdashes, chain combos!
oh rofl this thread is still here.
I love you SRK.
WWE All-Stars is legit damn it!
This thread in a nutshell:
TBH, 5 buttons is more than enough imo, after all we have only 5 fingers on our hands
3s Chun sees your five and responds with two. she is not impressed by those six button characters. back fierce and low forward will be quite enough, thank you.
