First of all - of course it’s not godlike. That was kind of the point all along. We SHOULDN’T be doing as well as we are. With regards to us being “awful” you’re probably only looking at the combo length. Neither of us have put the time in to learn any infinites etc. I play keep away and Dino goes for reset after reset.
I just picked a match at random as well but from the match starting at 12:45
13:07 - Dino calls his assist but I jump knowing full well he was going to call it avoiding Cerebella’s grab… but getting caught with Parasoul’s air grab. Dino then proceeds to drop the combo but it doesn’t matter as I’m stuck in the corner and it’s EXTREMELY difficult for Peacock to escape from the setup while in the corner. I only survive because Dino drops his second combo and gives me a bit of space - lack of practice.
13:22 - Desperate I try to build some space using my super… like a chump and Dino punishes me for it. If he had been a pixel closer the launcher would have landed and I would have received the full combo.
13:35 - I jab with Double and it is blocked… and I proceed to eat a full combo punish because he blocked my jab!
14:25 - Peacock finally gets some distance after a combo and I’m able to show off some of Peacock’s Keep away. I manage to keep him away for a good 25 seconds. Almost everybody I fight online is kept away for the entire fight but Dino has tons of experience vs it and knows how to get around it. The entire match Dino is right in my face and doesn’t let up because he knows how hard it is to get in once I’m given any room at all. Most people I fight online let me back up right at the start of the fight and go to town on them. Apparently Double’s assist is “crazy overpowered” and needs to be nerfed… but against somebody who knows what they’re doing it really isn’t that big of a deal. His Cerebella command grab assist causes at least as much havoc if not more.
15:02 - Nothing particularly special… but auto-correct assist ftw! lol
15:15 - I bait Dino with a “random” super knowing he would cancel into his own one to punish me. I DHC into Double however to punish him instead.
Long combos don’t win matches. There’s a lot of smart stuff going on in these matches. Don’t get me wrong however… I don’t claim to be good at this game and neither does Dino. We know we’re garbage at this game. We don’t practice it… but that’s the whole point. Why are we better than 90% of the people out there when we shouldn’t be?
No, I’m looking at the overall gameplay. The fact that you think predicting when a person you play against a whole lot will call an assist and dodging it is somehow an example of a good moment of gameplay just further demonstrates this.
Judging from the random people I’ve played in unranked online, you’re not even better than 50% of the online population…
You also made a comment how he could beat most of the top 16 from EVO in casuals… and with the video you left all I can respond with to that is “lolwut?”
Also, learning how to tech air grabs and pressuring while leaning towards more iad attacks blows up that “amazing” Parasoul/Cerebella combination. You haven’t even seen 90% of the SG community, let alone played enough to say you’re in top 10% (and don’t pull the xbl/psn argument; it doesn’t work). Get your head out of your ass, please.
lol such rage. Believe what you will I could care less. All I know is we win at least 90% of our online matches and Dino blew people up at EVO… and yes we do suck which is kind of the problem. Regardless if Capcom announces Darkstalkers at SBO this weekend (which I sincerely hope they do) then that will be the final nail in Skullgirl’s coffin as far as a main spot at EVO is concerned.

And honestly there were a LOT of not great people playing at evo. How does he know which ones were top 16? did he ask them? I could see him maybe beating a few of them, but definitely none within top 8.

Get over yourself, seriously. No one in this community right now is good, regardless of what tournaments they’ve won. They’re getting better but no one has the right to say they’re good, not yet anyway. The problem is that anyone being good has absolutely NOTHING to do with getting this game into Evolution, or furthering its growth.
Also I’m not going to link them but fourth months worth of Team St1ckbug tournaments + 1 1/2 months of Break tournaments, + 2 months of my bringing the newest build to whatever tournament I can get to. I’m sure I can go into greater detail but I’m not doing it for epeen rights.

anybody who knows how to play this game does not walk away from peacock at the start of a match. you sure you played top 16 and not randoms at EVO? they need to find which station you were playing on and save those damn replays let me tell you!!
ROFL ummm look at the video… first of all I did a raw tag earlier in the video because Peacock had no health left at all and was going to get chipped out - I had no choice. I even state that while playing and tell him to punish me for it.

AFTER the raw tag punish is when Dino counters my jab.
When I jabbed him he did an alpha counter into Cerebella which is what started the combo. Clearly you are the one who didn’t even understand what you were watching. lol I didn’t think I needed to spell out exactly what he did for you as it was fairly obvious. The actual “jab” that I’m talking about is at 13:38 - I figured you’d watch for more than 3 seconds. haha And no this community doesn’t deserve to survive.
No idea why people are getting uppity about someone claiming to win some casuals or online games. Aabra clearly makes/made an effort to grow the game’s scene, so good job on that.
Because yet another thread about discussing how to accomplish progress is now full of monkeys throwing poo at each other.
That and the fact that everyone knows the real answer to the question at hand, but nobody want to admit it. If you want the game to make it to EVO, people have to go to tournaments.
The video was proof of my efforts to grow the community - not backup how good I am. Whatever though - I’m done with this game. Don’t expect any SG tournaments to be organized by us south of the border.

Honestly, with all the competition SG currently has, I still think the best approach is focusing on community growth (scene building, tournament attendance, etc) instead of worrying about getting the game to EVO main stage after a year. It can always have side tournaments with great community support.
the video may have originally been to promote the skullgirls scene, but the reason you posted it in here was indeed to back up your claims that you are good players. you even say so yourself in your own posts. you then try and tell people the reason they think it is ass is because of the length of the combos and just dismiss it.
anyway whatever. i apologise again for not watching the video correctly. its too bad i wasnt around on SG top 16 day (was watching the big screen most the day) since then i could have seen for myself.
