Because we all like the “If it’s too HARD play something else!” statement better!
Wrong question.
The right question here would be:
**“Why dumb down fighting games to cater to the Casual gamers?”
**
As if casual gamers were too dumb to learn how to play a “real” fighting game?
I even want to say that if the game was “too easy” and that the first dumbfuck to come around it could do all the special moves and win matches, it wouldn’t have been that successful!
If people now days are too retarded to learn something, fuck them!
The problem is NOT with games being made for “hardcore gamers”, the problem is with “casual assholes” complaining about games being “too difficult”, and not wanting to learn how to play them!
When the first Street fighter / Fatal Fury / [insert here a fighting game in the early 90s] came out, we were all noobs too!
…but nobody complained!
We just learned to play the damn game, because we wanted to get good at it!
Good! …and how is that not compatible with “learning to play the game” and with “stop complaining”?
If you dumb down commands in fighting games now, maybe… MAYBE this generation of players MIGHT be happy with it.
Let’s say to make the hadouken to be forward+punch, and you make it 4 buttons instead of 6.
The next generation of players will complain about 4 button being “too many”, and that there should be a single button to perform a hadouken…
And FG are going to get dumber and dumber just as players, until we turn all gamers into fucking retards with no finger-eye coordination at all!
I agree with that (not really, but whatever… let’s say it makes sense!).
They should optimize the online system so the casuals with few matches/victories play only with people of their level, and the hardcore guys with lots of points/matches play against each other.
It seems to be already the case, but the system should be upgraded in this way.
Fixed!
