So this year will be the first year of evo for my friend and I, however we both own xbox sticks. I wouldn’t want to try and borrow sticks from a stranger, but at the same time buying a stick to use just for one weekend seems dumb. We were planning on entering the 2v2, but that would require us getting 2 more sticks instead of splitting the cost of one. my question is that I have heard of good sales on sticks at the event, as well as people there to do dual modding. Is it reasonable if we get there Thursday evening to think I can get my stick modded before the tournament? Also do stick makers usually always have good deals at evo or just some years? Another thread mentioned a buy one get one free thing one year which would we awesome because we could get two sticks and still play in the 2v2.
Tldr; I don’t have a ps3 stick, can I expect to either buy one there, or get my stick modded at evo in time to not miss pools? Or should i just buy one online to be safe?
Sorry if this is posted somewhere, I looked but didn’t find anything.
Evo is more than two months away still. Dualmodding takes one day. Just do it!
I have never looked up how but is it actually cheap to buy all the stuff and do it your self? I dont own a soldering iron or anything like that. I guess I didn’t mention it but one of the other things I meant to ask is if they sell limited or different types of sticks at evo? Because if I could buy a PS3 one of those and then get it modded it would be a cool souvenir.
Yes you can buy a stick…and meet up with modders @ Evo.
Check out the Tech Talk section for who’s going…I know Toodles will be there.
I personally just bought an eightarc Fusion. Loved it so much (and it’s held up so well for the past six months or so) that I just ordered a second one the other day. Already dual-modded and it’s a phenomenal stick. Much easier to me for the cost.
If you’re not willing to do anything ridiculously hard, get the TE_Kitty. It’s a very quick and easy dual mod for your XBox TE.
I bought a qanba for 200 bucks on ebay, myself.
I recommend either getting it dual modded by someone who knows what they are doing or just buying a Eightarc/Qanba stick.
yeah I was looking at that, but for 2 of them with harnesses and shipping it would probably be about $120 or somewhere around there, which is why I was really interested in finding out about the buy one get one free sticks at evo, if that actually does happen often, because I would rather get 2 PS3 sticks for $150 or something than dual modding both of ours for a similar cost.
Fusions are $185USD and are great sticks. I honestly can’t recommend them enough but that’s the last time I’ll plug them in this thread. They’re only about $20 more than a new TE.
In the tech talk sticky, you should look up the “modder in your local area thread”
If you are going to TE_Kitty it you better get going now NOW, NAO!. Come 1 month before evo all the shit for dual modding might be sold out like the past 2 years, and I don’t see that changing this year. Last year I had about 6 pms asking for dual modding in 2 weeks time for dual modding for evo and I had to turn them down due to everything being sold out. Also any modders in attendance typically need 2 hours minimum if they did prep work to dual mod a stick. I take about 8 hours to dual mod a stick that is why I don’t mod at tournaments.
mad catz booth. bring money.
I use a stick for UMVC3/Sometimes AE if im feeling silly/SFXT, but the one i have is a VLX (Won via donation drive) and that thing is too big for me to bother bringing with me all the way from Belgium, so I plan on getting a Madcatz there and dual modding that one instead :>
