I’m sick and tired of my family’s home internet, it’s slow as crap.
If the time comes for me to move into my own house and live my life on my own, I need to know what is the best internet service for:
[] Online Gaming
[] Live-Streaming
[] YouTube Video Uploading
[]etc.
fiber (fios) is the most reliable and is almost always good. the simple explanation is that fiber is relatively new, and cable is using the cable tv infrastructure which is probably older than the home you’re living in. however, as fios is still ‘new’ and it requires brand new installation in your home, chances are good that it’s not available in your area (or if it is, it’s extremely expensive) and you will have to settle for cable.
cable service varies in quality from area to area. one person might say comcast is awful, while someone a few blocks over can have zero complaints about their service. there really is no easy answer, you just try each cable provider that’s available in your area and stick with the one that gives you the fewest problems.
don’t bother with dsl if you want to stream.
you can have the best internet and online gaming can (and will) still be awful, as gaming depends on who has the worst connection. if you are playing world of warcraft, and your connection is superb and blizzard’s servers are superb, then you are going to have a good time. if you are playing street fighter and your connection is superb but your opponent either has a shitty connection or lives on the opposite side of an ocean, it’s going to be horseshit.
tl;dr: the internet cannot answer this question for you you just have to try everything in your area and see what ain’t shit
