What is going on SFV Blocking Help and other stuff

So I mean, I have played very little SF4, and now what to actually try playing SFV and get decent.

I watched and read about the blocking (practically the same) but no matter how I block, I always seem to be getting hit.

I am holding down back, and still get hit by DP’s and crouching attacks… wtf.

Also, if I am blocking, am I suppose to be buffering attacks or something? When I try to counter, I just end up get hit again or something.

I see people wake up DP etc… all the time, yet when I do it, I get normal’ed and then bodied.

Also, I thought this V didn’t have throw teching? Maybe I don’t fully understand what that means, but I thought you were able to throw crouching opponents…

I walk up, go to throw while they are just sitting there crouched, and I whif, and they punish. I rage quit and came here.

1 - If you are getting hit by DPs and crouching attacks, then you are not holding down/back.
2 - You are not supposed to buffer attacks while blocking. You can charge, but if you let go of down/back or back, then you will get hit.
3 - If you’re getting hit on a wake up DP, then your timing is off.
4 - Throw teching is just escaping a throw. You might be thinking of crouch teching.
5 - You are able to throw crouching opponents. You’re either too far away, or trying to throw while they are in hit or block stun.

ps- Don’t rage quit, it only hurts you and stunts your growth. Come here for answers or test things in training mode.

Are you mashing buttons while you’re blocking? You’re probably mashing buttons. If you’re going to commit to a block, only block. Then wait til you see a gap before pushing buttons again.

Start with normals as counters, rather than buffering specials. Light punches and kicks are a good starting point, although mediums have a place too, from there, link them into specials. Raw specials wont get you out of turtle mode unless they’re against a really obvious jump-in.

If you’re trying it all the time, they’re waiting for it every time. Mix it up.

Yep, you can tech throws, do you mean crouch teching? As in the option select?

Don’t rage quit bro! Get into practice mode set up the scenario and practice against it til you find a way in.

Try this. Go into training mode, go into options and set the dummy to CPU. Then turn on key display. Practise blocking against the CPU and the key display will show if you are actually doing a block when being attacked.

guys i need help i cannot block things on reaction even though i said block ie reacting to nash’s forward hp should be easy but it doesnt…is there some new game mechanic like no blocking?
