hit confirmation is exactly as it sounds⦠being able to confirm that your move has hit, so you can link/cancel into super, ON REACTION to the move hitting your opponent.
You do it by hitting the guy with your move, then reacting to a hit or block/whiff accordingly.
It is good, cause if you perfect it, you will never burn a super, and it will make you very dangerous
It is a necesity for higher level play
The best example (and easiest) would be Chunās hit confirm off c.mk. if you connect with it, you can easily, on reaction, super right after it. Make sure you buffer your super when you press c.mk⦠that way, if it hits, all you need to do is hit kick on reaction to combo in the super. it takes some practice to get hit confirms down, but once you get the hang of it, youāll be hit confirming with Ken, Chun, Makoto, etc like a pro!
In other words be so good that you can āseeā if a move hits or not,then on reaction do or not do the super or whatever⦠interesting i always thought of that but never think in was posible ā¦
its really easy, just go to training mode, put the dummy on random gaurd and keep doing mp, hp chains with ken, and just yell YES if you hit and NO if he blocks, its really easy to seeā¦
plus, some people use other factors, I usually look to how the opponent reacts and the sound of the hit because it works for me, because when you go into block mode you go into that right in one frame, with hitting the frames are still animated or something
plus: if someone stands, you can always do low poke xx super, thats because heās standing so you can hit him, but dont rely on it too much, some ppl walk up and just block low to see you miss super
other factors to look at: your opponentās healthbar, points above the hp bar, if it increases its a hit =)
is it possible to buffer while doing another move?
ex kens mp, hp, srk combo
can i start the srk movement while hitting hp and simply hit lp right after to perform srk?
or the same type of buffering with a super?

LOL at the yell YES/NO if hit/block hahaha. I can see some nerd doing that alone in his room. Pyro-yes you can do that. The most used example of hit confirming in ANY sf game,(not just 3s) is short, short super. You see if the 1st short is hitting, buffering the motion and if it hits finish the motion and press the button. Some hit confirms are easy (Ken c.mp super, short short super, chun c.mk super, makoto c.mk super) and some are hard (Ken c.mk hit confirm) so just practice.
not that I did it but its to show that you can actually see it while the move is still executing and where you can still cancel
Actually Iām a little ashamed to admit but I look at the health bar also. I find that to be easier. I just peep the health bar when I press the button and see if it changes with my peripheral vision. If the health bar changes then I press the buttons for my super. Its easier to see for me cause you are reacting to any change whatsoever, and not a specific change(i.e. their hit/block stance). I wonder if anyone else does this? Seriously anyone that has trouble hit confirming stuff like low fwd, super try this and see how it works out for you. With it I can do confirms like necro stand strong - super, etc, that I once thought were ridiculously hard. Iām still iffy on confirming ken low fwd though unfortunately.
Which moves are hit-confirmable with Makoto?
c.mk, sa1(this one is easy, just look for it) s.mp, SA1(this one is a LITTLE tighter than c.mk, still pretty easy if you look for it. Some other ones that arenāt QUITE hit confims(you have way more time to see if anything hit) Grab, s.fp xx SA1/2(on your 1/2 of the screen for 2) c.short xx hayate-link SA1 off hayate. The SA1ās damage is scaled, but it still does pretty good damage.
You wanna always do the standing mp into super and not the low forward if you are fast enough, low forward can be parried both ways but stand strong has to be parried high. So its a little better.
Low forward has much longer range though. Youāre not going to be landing too many s.mpās unless theyāre right over your opponents head. Add that to the fact SA1 has a vaccum effect, both options are distance dependant imo.
dont use c.mk as a meaty, but dash in while still out of throwrange by a couple pixels and then c.mk, link super
Yeah true. It has its uses, just throwing out there that you can parry low forward up or down so you dont want to meaty it too much. Your mileage may vary, I rarely see Makoto used without the maximum spider super so Iām far from an expert on SAI.
Anyone here able to hit confirm kenās crouching foward pretty good? Is that even possible to hit confirm? I canāt do it for the life of me.

i can do it for about 25%, I dont use c.mk that often anyway, only to punish bad sweeps, cancel into ex fireball or if I see the opponent is standing which doesnt always work, blocking at the last second owns me
All the kens on the Evo DVD are doing it. In fact, UME himself hitconfirms sitting forward into fierce DP when he doesnāt have bar to do super.
It is also super easy to hit confirm meaty UOH ā SAIII and back + forward ā SAIII with ken.
I can hitconfirm everything easily, uoh, 2xc.lk or whatever, but Necroās s.mp and Kenās c.mk are too tough, I usually use s.mp with ken or c.mp, and just use c.mk as a poke, go into ex fireball, or to punish from far range
are moves easier to hit confirm on ps2 version?
I love hit confirming kens s.mp looks so cool lol.
Also i thing u could hit confirm ibukiās c.strong, c.foward and f+foward overhead on a crouching opponent. Those are fun too.

donāt mean to toot my own horn⦠ok you got me, i do. watch these vids of 3s tournament play from a bit ago. notice the delay after a connected low forward before the super activation. thatās what hit confirm looks like. think iām just getting lucky every time? count how many times I mess up. Iāll save you some time, I think the answer is 0. Thatās what hit confirm adds to your game.
