^ fair enough. I guess we could infer some of it from appearenses and move-names or whatever…
Anyway, I just found this story FAQ that has pretty much all the characters. It’s similar to Tiamats, but independently written, and contains a lot of cameos, etc.
I think Skullo is Japanese, and Blair is said to be somewhere from Europe, but doesn’t specify where (although I do assume she might be of British heritage).
Sharon might be one of those ladies with “unknown origin” (you know, like Mature and Vice from the KOF series9:
I just remembered- Pullum’s grandfather was a secret member of Shadoloo.
And I just picked this up the following from gamespot, so it could be a load of crap:
"Area- the daughter of an ambitious inventor
Blair Dame is related by blood to Sharon, who effectively takes her sister’s place in SFEX2 (huh ?!)
Vulcano Russo carries a burden of pain. Since his lover was killed, his only thought has been revenge
Shadowgeist was a normal man. Living under a harsh dictatorship, he lost both his wife and daughter because of the oppressive government. Burning with revenge and contempt, Shadowgeist resolves to find the man responsible"
I guess that’s one of the reasons a lot of people got bored with SF story, because everybody had the same vendetta,
It’s probably also partly why the EX story is deliberately played down. And there aren’t many crossovers (apart from Zangief) partly because they didn’t want it to get repetitive. A lof of them have Bison-whatever-battles, or else walk-off-into-the-sunset type stuff- it’s probably more by design (and due to time constraints) than anything else.
I just read that Darun practices Pancratium… Bearing in mind that he’s not just a palette-awap, I don’t suppose somebody could capture the closeups of his three belts that we get in SFEX3?
Speaking of styles, I think Allen is Kyokugen. And looking at them, Hokuto’s style might be based on Kobujutsu. And Garuda’s style might be based on Manji…
I believe the Evil Hokuto/Shin Kairi fight took place during SF EX2 and they are only in SF EX3 as Eater eggs, IE they have already ‘dissapeared’ at this point. Makes the most sense, in part 1 Kairi kills Gouki, in part two Hokuto finds Kairi, and SF EX3 for the most part just seems to show what became of everybody rather than seriously advance the story kind of like SF3 Third Strike. Not 100% sure though.
As far as Nanase, just that. She witnesses the fight between the two, didn’t find any remains and I guess she goes back to her normal life.
Most of the SF EX stuff I know is from Saiki, the leading SF Online expert. I’ve asked him to make a SF EX Plot Guide since the story is different than regular SF, but he feels that SF EX needs another sequel to give it some finality. And that’s not going to happen chances are, so… Saiki spends lots of his time translating other stuff.
Hayate’s relationship to Kairi, Hokuto and Nanase is one of the questions I asked Saiki a while back. He said no. His relationship to them is an unfounded rumor. All that is known about Hayate is that he weilds a legendary sword that killed a great dragon.
When you see the word ‘Orochi’ in a lot of his moves, one can suspect that he wields, the… GASP! Kusanagi Blade, the one used to kill the Orochi, the eight headed dragon of legend… my guestimate as to why Hayate was dropped from SF EX3 is that Arika realized too late the whole Orochi deal was taken by King of Fighters, duh.
Looking through the entire Thread once again since it’s pretty old, I realize I never put down the full Kairi/Hokuto/Nanase story and I mentioned about Saiki not writing the SF EX Plot Guide twice… MEEP! Anyway, Kairi’s story -
He fought Gouki and Gouki f****d him up scarring his body badly and causing him to loose his memory. All Kairi could recall was Gouki’s moves. He dissapeared, his sister Hokuto went to look for him. Kairi found Gouki and killed him. Gouki’s death lead to the creation of Garuda; Garuda is composed of souls that fell victim to the Satsui No Hadou.
Kairi and Hokuto met each other. Nanase found Hokuto at this time. The meeting brung out Hokuto’s dark side (I think she’s either afflicted by Satsui No Hadou or it’s a clan thing or something… I forget) anyway, Kairi went ‘Shin’ and they fought. They were about to give each other death blows at the same time but at the last second Shin Kair lowered his power level to not kill his sister. Anyway, after a huge explosion both of them dissapeared. It is not known what happened to them.
I think this is one of the main reasons why Saiki says the story isn’t finished, you don’t leave the fate of two of the game’s main characters hanging like this… well, it could be considered finished if you figure they are dead…
I never heard of Gouki’s death causing Garuda to come into existence. Are you only saying Arika knew they would kill off Gouki so they decided to make Garuda? I thought the only thing they have in common is a connection between them and SNH. Gouki uses it; Garuda fights even harder against people who use SNH or are motivated by hate or revenge.
Here’s some things I remember reading at some point somewhere, but it was awhile ago and I don’t remember where this came from so who knows:
Skullomania is a Japanese salaryman who moonlights as a superhero. Shadowgeist is his arch-enemy/supervillain.
Blair and Sharon are sisters, they may both be assassins. (Tekken anyone?)
Rosso is Spanish, not Italian, but I have no idea what his story is or why he’s in the game.
Blair and Allen are both in Fighting Layer a game made by Arika, if that game has any kind of story, more infomration about them may come from that. The game was never released on anything other than Japanese arcade to my knowlege, MAME has it but it doesn’t run well and has no sound.
The idea of Garuda being made up of the souls of victims of Satsui no Hado sounds awesome to me, there is definitly something spectral about him. If Yoshimitsu is a good indication, Garuda definitly looks similar to manji, but his style is kinda unique as far as moves go.
I really wouldn’t try to fit Nash in with Ken and Allen. The SF EX series seems to work best in a world without the SFZ/Alpha series. Sakura would have to be a lot older if that world existed within, Ryu would be over the Satsui No Hadou, Vega - Shadowloo Boss - would no longer have all his Psycho Powers at the ready, Rolento goes rogue against the US Military in SF EX Land and not in SFZ, and so on. Before the SFZ Series Nash was Guile’s friend who got killed by Vega, not a US Martial Arts Tourney winning guy. So I think it’s best you think of him more of the former and less of the later in SF EX land. SF EX land is really dealing more with Doctrine Dark and Guile than Nash and Guile besides.
But if you really want to think of them being related, I guess the US Martial Arts thingy is as good as anything.
Depending on when the tournament is held, they all could have been champion.
But I suspect that when Capcom made Charlie a previous champion (Before Ken) that they didn’t notify Arika of that (not that Arika would have cared.
So I guess the lineup would be…
Capcom / Arika
----------------
Charlie/ Allen
Ken / Ken
In theory Allen could also have been champion AFTER Ken but that’s if Arika is ignoring Capcom’s statements that Ken wins the tournament three times in a row.
