What I Learned Evo 2009 Edition

lol yeah, I actually watched some of those videos, it’s tight to see the progression. Good times, I feel bad for Bill he should have had SF4 at Acme it would have gotten a lot more play I think.

EX Cod? Why not s.hp into regular CoD?

I can teach someone Abel.

I also learned that Cole’s got moves! I didn’t see this live and someone asked for a video link in another thread.

I think James Chen was taking a lot of 5v5 pictures. If anyone spots those somewhere, could you let me know? :stuck_out_tongue: I haven’t found them yet, but I really want to see them.

Next to you and Mandel lol, the bright yellow center is a beacon that just attracts the eye!

ahahahahahah cole

what a G

I can’t tell where anyone is much less what day that pic is from. I think I see Paul Lee up front. I was probably playing in a pool or sleeping…

I saw this while playing Tekken, I was like thats Cole!?

Good shit haha

The video of Cole dancing doesn’t quite do it justice. Shit was pretty raw.

Good shit Cole hahah

Cole’s got moves!

Agreed. I would have been there all the time.

I learned for the first time just how much of a mental game tournaments are. This was the first tournament where I can actually say the crowd behind me and cheering got into my head and contributed to my losing. The guy I was playing was good, and may have beaten me anyhow, but everything going on around me completely took me out of the game, and I was starting to feel like I had already lost before I had. It was crazy. I spent time focusing on how to refocus, and it really affected my play.

It was also the first time I have prepared myself mentally for each match, and I found it payed off really well. Before each match, I would go over all my match-ups in my head and remember to play to my strengths, and come up with how to play if my opponent was over aggressive, turtling, or being random (ie. online style). IT REALLY PAYED OFF! (In SF4 anyway). It’s the first time I have ever gone into a tournament with that kind of mind-set, and it was my best showing ever. I also got lots of sleep, ate a good breakfast and drank lots of fluids, which I think really helped me be alert and ready to play.

Waku Waku 7 is damn fun.

I also got Double Perfected in BlazBlue. Single Elimination tournaments suck balls.

the chris who plays ken or the chris who only plays viper?

I’m sorry to break this to you Shawn, but there is no counter to your worst matchup: Elliott Gray. :nunchuck:

Ok so someone tried to say that the cute little mixed photographer at Evo is a boy:

I say GTFO that’s a girl. She is a she right because I see no signs of he.

Also I’ve been seeing a trend in the Bison thread of all these bison users saying that because they didn’t see Bison make top 16 they don’t think he has a lot of potential and they’re switching characters. I enjoy this because it allows for all the real bison players to be weeded out. My new goal is to prove that Bison deserves his high-mid tier spot. I still hate that those 2 S tier fuckers Sagat and Ryu are the only characters I lose to. I’m going to find a way to consistently handle them.

That picture makes her look a bit ambiguous, but if you saw her in person, which I’m sure most of us did, you could easily tell she was a girl.

It is an ambigous picture.

Isn’t that a pic of Karaface?
