What I Learned Evo 2009 Edition

Sakura is super legit. You can always talk to Nolan and Jeff about her, they used to play her a lot back in the day. And watch Sabre vids, I think hes probably the best with her overall…you could definately learn from it!

I was trying to practice room Akuma/Sagat today and it just wasn’t flowing well at all…when I went to Chun after it felt like she was a godlike character in comparison. Looks like it will definately be awhile until I can get a solid alt…

Oh mah gawd I can’t believe I missed that, I’m cracking up right now. When did that go down?

That’s always gonna happen when you switch characters if you’re used to playing with only one. Just keep working on your execution with that character in the training room and play a few matches online. You’ll start getting the hang of it after a while. There’s just whole new matchups and situations to worry about that you might have to approach in a totally different way and thatll fuck you up.

Real talk on Sak though, Sabre didn’t get outta pools and he’s hella good with her. Her life, lack of cross up and anti air really gimp her. You have to rely on mind games/mixup and people not knowing the matchup to win. I tried playing her seriously when the game came out and it was just not working, but that’s just me.

My name is Jared Schultz, I answer to jalapNo, JOLOPNO, Shark tooth, and many more things. Going to my first Evo was a blast, not because of the gaming, but because of the friends I got to hang out with from Thursday-Monday. I came into the NorthWest community at my first Preppy’s back in April, and in only 3 months I have gotten closer to people in the NorthWest community closer than I ever have in my 3 years of playing CS. I want to say thanks to everyone for being awesome.

For Evo itself, it went pretty smooth. A lot of people know I’ve been to a lot of tournaments but I have to say I was impressed with how well Evo was ran. Props to everyone who made that happen.

For the NW, you guys made this the Evo to remember for EVERYONE. No one will ever forget how strong we came in as a community whenever one of our guys was on the big screen because of the EY! Clap, or Pat wrecking those JDR’s. I think all in all, we pulled what someone called it as “all for 1 and 1 for all musketeers shit”. Which made me feel all warm n fuzzy on the inside. I hope the only beef anyone had/has is for that Las Vegas Sun being the hottest fucker in the world.

Shout out to EVERYONE in the NorthWest for making mine (and quite a few others too) the best one we could have ever possibly imagined.

EDIT: MAD PROPS TO MICKEY’S DAD!
Frank: "You can make sticks?"
Chuck D: “I can make whatever the fuck I want.”

yes mad props to CHUCK D!!! It was tight to have him there, he slid into team seattle with no problems. Another Chuck Davis quote:

Chuck Davis: So I hear that you are top 13th in the world son, that’s a pretty good accomplishment. It’s a shame that you lost to a girl though, but she was pretty good too. You probably would’ve beaten her.

I was like WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW when I heard that.

HAHAH YES Chuck D was tight.

Chuck D to me after everyone ran away to play/watch matches: “What’s the appeal of this shit anyway?”

Fuck EVO, lol. I lose my first match then win 6 in a row only to not make it out of pools? I said it then and I will say it again FUCK THAT SHIT.

That shit’s tight.

i didn’t hear anyone yelling in the 5v5 but me and two other people! i was givin mad support to the whole crew and whoever i saw playin. i had too much fun…even tho it hurt to see us get 5-0’d to the east coasty

fuckin haunts

i learned that E helps people who are already good at 3s get better at 3s you can get rack of budlight 22’s for 50 bucks in vegas cigarettes are way too expensive fools dressin’ up like dudley are wack that viper was pretty good but in general people shouldn’t cosplay and… street fighter 4 is still gross but it’s funny to play lol

You must not have heard the Ey clap when they called Team NorthWest to the stage.

I learned that evo was fun.
And i’ll be back next year.

You must be deaf or something, because my girlfriend said she heard us cheering and she was back in SEattle.

I’ll update later

thizzin third strike? gross

:karate:

lollllll arturo hardbodied that bathroom

NO DOUBT. I got so fucking dehydrated in vegas. You can’t drink the tap water and the bottled water is 4 bucks a pop? Fuck that. That’s like… extortion. Next time I’m gonna bring like fifty bucks just for water. I usually drink a shit ton of water and I hardly drank any and I came home really sick, actually. Fuggin learned that lesson.

Water fountains. Use 'em. Nasty Vegas water, but it works.

Also sit down at the slots, don’t even need to play, and wait for them to bring you a free small bottle of water.

i learned that i’m still a scrub.

and that i am going to die alone.

emooo.

</3

Were you in your hotel room? Did you not notice the big group with TEAM NORTHWEST SHIRTS with SIGNS?

We were loud as fuck man.

I dunno man, I tried. I don’t consider myself picky about the water I drink but when I tried to drink that it made me feel sick. And I think I drank it anyway and now I’m really really sick. I don’t know if it’s from the water but something in vegas made me seriously ill.

Seriously?? Damn! PROTIP.

You sir are trippin.

Peachy: “When King stepped up to play the first match we could hear all of you guys loud and clear, and everyone on the floor turned around and looked back at you guys holding up the signs”

Mandel: “Yeah dude we heard you loud and clear on the stage”

Want to know how loud seattle was? Check out trace vs daigo and especially elias vs Dan

Elias: “Yeah I had my headphones up pretty loud, but I heard the “EY’s!” through the headphones during the RSF loop”

Mandel: I was over in pool 1 or something and I heard the EY clap going on all the way down at Pool 22 (This was during Nolan vs a Geif player), and it put a smile on my face.

you are trippin on the set man, Seattle was repping way too damn hard all weekend long.

BowflexMike aint know about that Ey Clap…he’s probably thinking “We don’t do that here”
