What have you done for the fighting game community?

Kid, you are seriously impressing me day after day. This avatar…too good.

Anyway, what have I done?

I’ve helped put Arcana Heart on the map here in the states. I helped get Arturo to Texas so he can head out to SBO thanks to EmotionGear and Planet Zero drama.

I play fighting games with my friends, I assume this counts

no barrel roll so you lose :lame:

I wrote a gigantic guide for playing Q and have been told by quite a few people that I was the reason they picked Q up.

I grace it with my presence. What more could you ask for?

participate

I’ve been planning the Jacksonville/North Florida Video Game Festival for the paper I work for. I currently run Quarterly Guitar Hero tournaments, which doesn’t really count, I guess. I have run one fighting game tournament when the originally planner couldn’t do the job due to family issues. It was a disaster, but hey, I tried. I made custom sticks for a good while, too, and tried to keep the price low AKA no profit - because you people are broke.

So yeah, this game festival I’m working on, I’m hoping to have a large fighting game presence, in addition to everything else that is popular.

Shoo, I haven’t read tech talk in a while, but I’m really stoked that you put that site together. I was trying to put something like that together a year or two ago, but just didn’t have the time. But good job, I think everyone in that forum recognizes what you have been doing for the greater good.

Really, that is the most important part. We just need a few thousand more people to do the same.

Been buying the games and playing them since 93’… that’s about it.

Thank you sir :woot::party::nunchuck::china:

I help run the local tournament around here, but besides that small contrabution of a few hours(which I still get to play during) every month, I mostly just mouth off about game design and fighter theory in hopes people will actually start thinking about how the games they play actually work.

Mostly I just end up being an asshole. :frowning:

I run SNK games trying to raise awareness for SNK games in America and cause people to take pride in America by setting the standard myself.

Yet at the same time I get these punk ass little haters that dont understand the semantics of what I am doing…so its frustrating yet at the same time all the fuel I need to push the scene further and try to destroy people when I play.

Ontop of all of this the SNK scene is splintered so it takes someone strong to run it…

But yet I get people complaining about “being too much of a dictator”

Man what the hell? This is my gripe…someones always got something to say…doesn’t matter how hard you work…all it takes is some illogical retarded “critic” in general that is an outsider that doesn’t know wtf is going on (aka HATERS PEOPLE) to bring it down to some ghetto ass level…

Its amazing what asanine critics believe when they aint in someones shoes is it?? Man some people think they know it all…got it all figured out

I am sure many people know my gripe…it makes you seek to annihilate in tournaments…for this very reason…ignorance…

Whatever…anyway see most of you at NEC8 when I try to make a loud statement to these “critics” via my 16 Money Matches on Saturday…

similar to DG but not as successful in getting the SFEX games into the fore front. Though generally the people that attempt to play against me at tournaments like what they play and wonder why it isn’t in the offical tournament. Some say its like CvS2, or 3s, sometimes even Marvel… But whatever they like they like and I won’t argue lol.

I also release combo and match videos when I get the time and right now I’m working on a EX3 tutorial video to be released before the next Evo north.

UltimateMK.com
(along with Shock).

And maybe someday obscurefighters.com will be of use to folks.

I upload SDBZ vids to youtube and promote it on forums, that’s about it.

I have…uh…supported GGPO and…uh…bought the book Playing to Win? Do those count?

Though I am trying to (slowly) develop it, starting with a video gaming community, which I will try to develop once the school gets it’s DDR machine that it won.

I talk peoples’ ears off about 2D fighting games. People are like, “there’s still Street Fighter?” I show them pics of my arcade sticks and invite them over to check out my setup. This is occasionally coupled with me lending them one of my PS2 ports and urging them to ignore what they perceive to be mediocre graphics. I’ve won a couple people over. There’s no scene up here, but awareness is awareness. I think I’ll be responsible for a couple SSFT2 HD sales.

well I still go to my local arcade and I want to have a denver community meeting in the future.

oh and SH has a godly AV.

I helped my local arcade from a huge slump it was in to an arcade that people actually take time out to travel to, along with getting new games accepted into the local community. I’ve brung the Philly FG people that much closer to each other, and I helped open up a reliable request line for new arcade games coming out in the future.

I support my games, and I get new players into them every month. I’ve gotten a little group together at my school that consists of about 20 people, who all train to play in tourneys competitively. I travel when I can to support the scene, and best of all I try and make it a pleasurable experience for those around me so they’ll want to participate more in the future

i organized tournaments in the Dallas area for approximately a couple of years; met some long-lasting friends during this time.
