What happened to the KOF XI loketest thread?

It’s kof, not sf. If you run around chipping with little 2-hits and lame footsies like in Capcom “high skill” vids, you WILL be penalized. Kof is ALL about combos. Get gratuitous on their asses.

this idea sounds fuckin stupid. what if your character is a grappler or a zoner? they are pretty much fucked.

on the bright side, this would benifit duo lon a lot.

When I first heard about the system I figured it could be pretty cool, but if it is based solely on the number of combos it sounds like crap.

I was thinking it will be primarily based the amount of usage of the new skill meter and number of landed attacks.

Oh well, the only truely upsetting news is the fact that SNKP may actually be holding back on characters for the console release (ON PURPOSE?) and removing Duck King and Maxima.

I’m sure combos won’t be the only deciding factor. They’ll most likely consider defense, momentum, efficieny(utilizing the characters abilities/attacks at a good ratio), tact, etc.

KOF is NOT all about combos. Footsies and zoning have a role in KOF as well.

yeah shit doing less life in general and time at 99 with that dumbass judgment idea = unbalanced as fuck for characters with short combos/juggles/supers

Maybe 2-hit comboes will count as much as 20 hits?

Or maybe other factors will come into play.
Besides, I’m sure for tournament play the option to turn time off will be there.

I hope the music doesn’t stop when a character dies or the round ends. It did that in Neowave.

A rumor based on the fact that their portraits were greyed out (which was the case ever since the beginning of the loke). With reports of Duck being in the intro, it’s doubtful that the claim has any ground.

someone mentioned that SNK were giving the fans what they want… hmmnn if so then why were neowave and kof2002 still in the top 10 jpn arcade rankings for so long? (excellent 3 VS 3 format?) 2k3 didn’t last long at all afaik

and don’t give me this BS they need to try something new, it’s old and lame and busted Cap have been doing it since 1995? with XMEN VS SF etc? IIRC added to the fact that you had ample time in those games it hardly ever ended in a timeout in my experience

in my experience 60% of kof2k3 matches end in timeouts and so it will be the same with the new kof :frowning: and I still want at least 50 charas

I remember when kof2003 was on it’s way out, and it was saying that if the Leader of the team gets KO’d then the match is over.

That never happened.

So just wait and see on the new time over rule, it’ll probably be fixed. It better be.

OR, it could be they’re retweaking those characters. Duck King from the RB series doesn’t translate too well into KOF, though Duck Dance as an LDM would be gold.

Iori wasn’t playable in the first loke test. I am so hoping he’s changed- he’s about as common as Ryu in KOF right now- and has evolved less from year to year then Ryu did from SF2 to ST.

Yes, I will slam SNK for doing something Capcom has been panned for a lot.

As for timeouts/judgement, I expect that to get pulled or tweaked, it was hated in 3S, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end up only used in draw games/double KOs (which did happen more frequently in 2k3 then other KOFs for some reason- probably due to engine change having more hit trades)

KOF2003 was the most profitable stand-up arcade machine of 2004 in Japan.

But yes, you are correct in the sense that 2003s popularity dropped faster than 2002s (2003s popularity lasted a little over a year, while 2002 is still popular). NeoWave is popular, but its dropping faster than 2003 did.

But i still think continuing the 2003 engine is better than going back to the same fucking thing over and over again (we only got KOF98 after continuing the KOF96 engine for two years, after all).

If SNK went with the fans wishes, KOFXI would be KOF2002 with the new characters.
