Yeah he does sort of have the only being powerful in desperate situations problem, but he managed to hold Hakumen off in a straight fight and managed to move faster than powered up Hazama could track whilst saving Carl and Tao, so I’d say he’s already up there in terms of power.
Well, I play Ragna, and what currently frustrates me is playing Lambda’s on ranked, purely because of lack of experience. So difficult to get in on a good Lambda. Feels like whatever I do i’m gonna get a sword warped violently into my abdomen.

2D and 4D have very good invulnerability that beats a LOT of stuff, and lead into 5k damage. And why is it “predictable”, when every single drive move she has has 3 followup options?
Her “shitty life” is actually 11k, which is the “normal” value in this game, beaten only by Jin (11500), Bang(11500), Hakumen(12000), and Tager (13000).
She was S- in CS2. She hasn’t been C Tier since CS1. You don’t think Tokido “I pick easy characters” got to top 4 in Evo last year with a C Tier Noel, do you?
She gets huge damage in easy combos midscreen off random drive hits. If you have to work hard, you are doing something wrong.

She did stupid damage in her drive, but that’s been fixed in EX, she can no longer do 4k off of just pressing buttons.

Yeah, she’s predictable, really predictable, it’s not like her drive finishers are really mixups, you either block the other crossup (which is hella obvious), block the shory (Noel’s use that shit when someone’s blocking, that’s a really bad noel) or her bloom trigger, which is lol.
Any of her combos beyond 5k take actual practice.
Now, if you want to talk about Noel out of drive and how dumb shit is, sure, we can.

no, I am not. Noel was the bottom of S tier in CS2. Thus “S-” 
Makoto was unarguably higher, but took a lot more skill and practice, hence Tokido’s choice of Noel.
She still gets 5k+ off 4D, which still has tons of invulnerability and a weird arsed hittable box that makes it easy to fish for counter hits with.

I don’t think I played a single Noel in CS2 that *couldn’t *do 7k off any given touch, and I barely did any grinding in CS so I had to be near the dregs of the matchmaking pool.
The game shouldn’t FORCE me to learn anything. Basic tenant of game design, don’t force players to do stuff they don’t wanna do.The PLAYERS should be the ones forcing the change. I should WANT to learn tricks because my old ones proved not good enough or too predictable (which, in all likelyhood, they would have).

In my defense I’ve been a scrubby Ragna doing Dial-a-combos since I first touched CT :tup:
Oh, now I feel bad playing Noel. But anyway, the only thing that grinds my gears is my one bad habit, and that is that I will always accidentally combo into optic barrel and use the wrong strength (usually c instead of a >.>). This of course causes me to drop my combos in the stupidest manner.
Actually, no wait, Ragna’s midscreen combos in EX are so absurd. he did not always have those, did he?
He had pretty much all of them, Except in EX his 6B replaces 5D/DS in most situations because its gives a HARD KNOCKDOWN MID COMBO. Those combos are easier to land because of the buffs to his main pokes, He does a lot more damage all round. He can get a full combo off nearly every starter along with incredible carry.
He prorates a lot better now, Too.
Then you have the fact more or less everyone on XBL plays this guy now. And im being deadly serious, it’s well over half.
I want some of the crack ArcSys was smoking when they balanced Ragna this time around.
“Lesseee. So the idea here is to lower the overall damage, and bring things into balance. Let’s take a solid, easy to use mid tier character in our already fairly balanced game and make him do like 25% more damage while nerfing everyone else (Except Hakumen and Valk)! That should achieve our goal!”
Sometimes I think that just about the only thing they did right with CS:EX Balancing was buffing up Tager.
no one else pissed about arakune? my friends hate playing against the character and i don’t want to main him if he is absolutely universally maligned
Some people do really hate him, but he actually doesn’t bother me that much. In a match of equivalent skill levels, the Arakune player needs to really work to get curse, since most of his curse setups are punishable or predictable. You do have to play very differently against him, but it’s not really any bigger a change than you need to make to play smart against a good Tager, or a good Lambda or something.
That’s just my opinion though. Some people really hate him.
