Reading some of the match up threads, I notice that there are occasions where the advise “play it lame” crops up. Could someone explain what this means?
Thanks!

Playing lame basically means to sit on a life lead, turtle up and not take any chances.
Dont do anything risky… Run away and dont do things like ultra unless you know its going to hit
Fighting against someone who’s “laming” it out is a personal frustration to me. I know I can beat it but it irks me so much, I can’t even stand it. I wonder if that’s how some people feel when they fight me sometimes? I know I have a tendency to lame it out when it comes to certain match ups. I guess it’s a matter of “I can dish it out but I can’t take it.” >:) That’s why I’m going to be looking at a serious Second to make up for the matches that lame it out.
Cheers for the info! Funny that I’ve been playing lame most of the time and not known what it was called. I always thought it was called “being a dick”.
Is this really a thread
How about you two shut the fuck up and actually answer the question since the whole point of this forum is to help people out with even the most basic stuff?
Playing “Lame” is just the new catch word for turtling. Cut your mistakes down, ignore risk/reward scenarios and look for assured damage, use normals that are safe on block and use the clock as an assist tool.
Example, SSF4 Blanka or Honda…up by two or more hits? Up by 25% in life? Stop playing. Run, block, chip, escape…make the opponent open up for guaranteed big damage. Otherwise win by Time Over.
Being a newcommer to a game doesnt mean that you have an inability to read sticky threads.
Too many folk on here just log in and rather than finding the answer to a problem, they choose to create a whole fn thread dedicated to an ass backwards question that they want an answer to like "What does playing lame mean?"
Nice of you to be a nice guy though.
The only problem is…im an arsehole. And i cant be arsed to give advice out to idiots who cant be bothered to read stickys.
Lame play refers to anything that is unpleasant to play against or for spectators to watch, or is extremely lacking in player skill, but happens to be one of the most effective ways to win.
It does not necessarily imply turtling, though turtling usually falls under lame play.
(This term is not exclusive to Street Fighter, it applies to any game where there are strong strategies that are not fun.)
You obviously dont play fighting games.
