Not that I really give a fuck at this point, but the whole point of this thread is to post what we dislike about SF4. It is entirely possible to critique something objectively and yet still be a fan of it. That’s why I always raise an eyebrow when people get defensive about criticism towards something they like. People are not “complaining” or bitching, they are expressing what they believe to be valid issues. There’s a fucking difference. If everyone remained silent then nothing would change!!
I say this because I see some people getting heat for expressing a dislike about certain features in this game. The game is not fucking perfect, discussions like this will always persist. And yes, discussing the faults of a game can be VERY constructive and lead to improvements. It is pointless to constantly pretend that everything is absolutely perfect. Now, of course, you could be a person who truly believes SF4 is a perfect game. More power to you. But don’t get pissy if people criticize this game.
KOF? Really? I would argue the only good release that came out of SNK past 2002 was getting out of bankruptcy. Also XI. Which was admittedly really quite good. GG I would agree in concept but realistically from the first release to the last release [2002->2006] there was one new game. That’s a YMMV comment tho since XX -> AC are pretty different so I’ll let it go. Aside from that I’d say the only game you could and should follow from start to finish[in the states] was Tekken. There’s a reason Evo was run every year with the same damn games. and Mario Kart - don’t deny it, even for 3d fighters which got 3 releases in…6 years? the scene was wasting away
I’m not trolling. I genuinely thought your opinion was stupid.
Of the two, E.Ryu and Oni, only the later can be considered a shoto, or at-least a traditional one. The only way you can can consider Oni a shoto is if you count all non-charge characters with fireballs and some kind of DP move, such as sagat, seth, cody, ect., as shotos. They clearly are not, so it is impossible to hate the game for the reasons you claim you do.
No, she should not have. The invincibility on it just had to go. The problem with it wasn’t the damage, it was that Rose could use it to escape any knockdown situation and halt any momentum the opponent had going at virtually no risk to herself. Having a “get-out-of-jail-free” card just didn’t fit her character design.
Personally I’m disappointed Capcom gave U2 7 frames of startup in Arcade Edition which hurt its midscreen comboability. Thankfully though they returned it to the original 5 frames in 2012.
Someone must not have taught you what an opinion meant. Who cares if you thought it was stupid? You’re no reigning authority to discard what I have to say. Took more than one post for you to push your glasses up and address yourself accordingly.
Do you whole-heartedly believe the bullshit you write? So Oni is an off-shoot of a shoto but isn’t one? Get real. He plays differently but the symptoms are all there.
I hope you’ve acquired the self-assurance you so desperately seek.
Considering the aforementioned situation happens once, rarely twice in a match makes it viable, especially with low damage output, I feel. Also it’d give way to multiple play-styles in a sense.
I never would even consider Rose a shoto whatsoever or even made any hint towards it. I play her cause her whole gameplan and mindset differentiates from the average mouth-breathing shoto (sup ken avatar!).
Ah resorting to grammar mistakes in lieu of an actual argument, always a good sign. You’re really a rather clever guy aren’t you?
No arguments again, so you instead you choose to attack my avatar and perceived character preference. You do realize Rose’s game-play is actually very simplistic and easy to understand and is in no way more-or-less difficult then Ken’s. No of course you didn’t, you are to busy sitting around congratulating yourself on what a special little snow-flake you are for picking her.
The best part about it, and this is my favorite thing about scrubs such as yourself, is your unwavering belief that you are engaging in an intellectual, almost academic, pursuit. The reality is you’re just playing StreetFighter. Get over yourself kiddo, this shit ain’t chess.
It’s not a question of how much the damage Super U2 does or how many times she can use it a round, it’s a question of whether or not it fits her design. Rose should not have something like that to begin with. She’s a character that excels at controlling space but has a tough time once she’s knocked down. She should not have a “get-out-of-jail-free” card, even if she can only play it once or twice in a round.
What do you mean when you say it would give way to multiple play-styles?
I don’t really hate anything. I enjoy the game, maybe someday I’ll find some way to hate it, but at the current moment I’m fine with how the game is. Yes I understand that the game being run by two vortex characters is kind of rough, but it might just be the kind of player I am. Also I always try and stop for a moment and think about things beyond me. Not the awful ranked session I just went through, or the mental block that I’m stuck at, but rather the community as a whole, the hype, drama, etc and a willingness to be apart of it.
I read it thoroughly, trust. I said what I said because I was disregarding what fits her character for a reason. I’m not really one to say what fits and what doesn’t, I can only go off of something I’d like to see and that doesn’t really step on anyone’s toes. Perception is what differs in our posts ultimately. As dickhead above mentioned, she is simplistic but I’m sure not everyone would use the “get out of jail free” aspect. Some would seek only to capitalize on that shift in momentum or others could care less for it. I only mentioned it after going FT10 with a local seth player and could have definitely used it, so my residual salt fueled that post. It’d just be a nice addition thats all.
