I always have trouble with execution in this game when I try to do combos, even the simplist of things, like comboing Evil Ryu’s ex-Tatsu to his Ultra in the corner. I either do it too soon and it doesn’t register the ultra or I do it too late and the ultra misses. The only times I ever seem to get it is if I spam the ultra input as many times as possible and as quickly as possible after I do the Ex tatsu hoping it will happen to land, but that’s like 50/50. And I know the game isn’t as combo heavy as most, probably the least even, but it’s still frustrating when I can’t get the combo counter past 3.
I came into the game VERY LATE btw, bought it after arcade edition came out because of Evil Ryu and his glowy shiny aura of evil. Got frustrated because I was the only new person online and everyone rocked.
I have it on PC and console and I never see him. Definitely not mained. I’ve seen people mess with him a match or two in endless if I do a ton of matches. No mains at all. I do endless exclusively too.
I’m just like Beserk Chip. I have all of the other older games, but I got out of games for a while. I was going to get this game sooner or later, but seeing Evil Ryu sold me on it lol. He’s fun to mess with, shame he’s lacking a bit.
I see the usual. Ryu, Ken, Bison, Sagat. The occasional Blanka or whomever else.
Blanka. He is 100% gimmick bullshit and his electricty is nonsense. (LOL T.hawk) Not saying Blanka players are bad, I’m saying I hate the character. I’ve hated him since he was created. The character is dumb.
Auto correct nonsense. Why is the game letting you DP in the opposite direction you were mashing? I crossed you up because I was smart enough to know you were doing a wakeup ultra, and then it decides to switch your direction and you still get the ultra. Stupid.
Grabs. I’m the only one in this community that hates grabs in this game and feels that SFxT got it right. You should not be able to grab from so far away. Its gotten so bad that grabs are predictable in this game and you can just mash crouch tech to beat it. We need to count how many times in a pro match that we see grabs teched and grabs successful and compare because I swear I see that blue spark and a push away more often than not. What happened to the good ol days of tricky ambiguous grabs? Gone in this game.
FADC defensively. I’m 100% for using meter and FADCing combos into more powerful ones. I am not so much for it being defensive. It allows players to be careless and stupid. Have 2 meters? No big deal just throw out a DP. If its hits, great! If not, backdash and you’re safe. It should have been something like FADC on block is 3 meters instead of 2. That would require more actual thinking in my opinion. Tired of seeing things like Seth DP (blocked) FADC DP (blocked) FADC DP.
This game already makes you block like a motherfucker, to ask for grabs to be worse is to ask for the game to be “block: the game”, and 50/50 characters would be even more crazy.
If they make grabs stronger then they have to nerf wake up set plays. Getting thrown in this game is very dangerous. I’ve actually come across a Japanese blog dedicated to breaking throws.
Has all sorts of nice risk vs reward charts, but they’re in Japanese :\
I don’t particularly hate Fuerte but thats because
1.) I rarely face a good one
2.) I find him less annoying than Blanka
I’m not denying that Fuerte is all gimmicks. (Hell I use Hakan and I think hes a walking gimmick) But everything Blanka does is super duper gimmicky to me. Especially when he starts hopping everywhere. For a slow player like myself, reacting to those is almost impossible.
FADC requires you to press a direction twice. Once does nothing, so why not just once…??
More importantly, I really disagree with a jump’s start-up being vulnerable to throws. That leaves you with a back dash, but the inputs take too long. The other option is to reversal, and some characters simply don’t have anything good to reversal with. Regardless, you shouldn’t have to take start-up into account on a jump. Somebody approaches you and know a throw is coming, you shouldn’t be forced to do the tech-the-throw routine.
